Cascarino’s Premier League Preview: Burnley v Stoke
Tony Cascarino, 9th March 2010
I’m afraid this could be the last throw of the dice for Burnley when they take on Stoke at Turf Moor. Ok, there may be little difference in terms of points between the clubs at the bottom of the table but unlike their fellow relegation candidates, the Clarets are not showing any signs that they can go on a run of form picking up points towards survival.
Cascarino’s Premier League Preview: Portsmouth v Birmingham
Tony Cascarino, 9th March 2010
Despite Portsmouth beating Birmingham in the FA Cup last weekend, this league encounter is no foregone conclusion. The 2-0 Pompey cup win was far from one-sided and it would have been very interesting to see what would have happened if Liam Ridgewell’s ‘goal’ had been allowed to stand as it should have. Alex McLeish’s side will want revenge tonight and with the determination and experience they have in their ranks; I think Portsmouth will only get a draw at best.
Cascarino’s Champions League Preview: Manchester Utd v AC Milan
Tony Cascarino, 8th March 2010
Manchester United are firmly in the box seat in this tie after beating AC Milan 3-2 in the San Siro. However, I don’t feel this tie is over as the Italians will be adventurous at Old Trafford after outplaying United for nearly an hour in the first leg. The fact that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side scored three away goals gives them a massive advantage but I can still see United having to endure a nervy time in this one.
Cascarino’s Champions League Preview: Arsenal v Porto
Tony Cascarino, 8th March 2010
I have to begin by saying this is a very tricky match for Arsenal. It will be made even more difficult if Cesc Fabregas doesn’t recover from his hamstring injury. The Gunners captain has been superb this season and has got his team out of jail of numerous occasions. Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney have received plenty of plaudits for pushing their respective teams on this season but Fabregas has been just as or even more important for Arsene Wenger’s team.
