The Uefa Cup Final: Can Glasgow Rangers Clinch Trophy Number Two on their Way to an Historic Quadruple?
Rangers face Russian side Zenit St Petersburg in Manchester on Wednesday night in their first European final in 36 years. With the League Cup already in the bag Walter Smith’s boys will be aiming to take home the Uefa Cup to clinch trophy number two on their way to a sensational possible quadruple.
The Glaswegian giants will fancy there chances of success in Manchester after beating Panathinaikos, Werder Bremen, Sporting Lisbon and Fiorentina to reach the final. However, they’ll be facing a Zenit side that thrashed star-studded favourites Bayern Munich 4-0 at home in the semi-final 2nd leg so it won’t be easy.
If they do win the trophy they’ll enter the final stretch of the season in fine spirits as they attempt to overcome a 4-point deficit on local rivals Celtic, though they possess 2 games in hand. The Gers also face Scottish Division One side Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup final so will be massive odds on favourites for this one.
With all this in mind we would like to hear your comments on the upcoming Uefa Cup final and your vote on how many trophies Rangers can win this season.
