Where Next for Former Arsenal Youngster David Bentley: Tottenham, Everton, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Chelsea or Liverpool?

Where Next for Bentley? It’s been widely reported that David Bentley has turned down a new contract offer from Blackburn and is looking for a move this summer. The former Arsenal youngster may well be returning to London if the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea get there way. However, Rafa Benitez is a known admirer of the England winger so a 3-way bidding war could be about to be waged this summer although Everton, Villa and Man City may also be interested.

Bentley enjoyed a superb season scoring 6 goals and making 11 assists in a campaign where he started 37 of Rovers 38 League games. The 23-year-old has shown he not only has the talent but also the consistency to play at the highest level. In the last 2 Premier League seasons he has missed just 3 League games so his fitness levels are extremely high.

So where do you think the England international capped 4 times by his country will end up this summer and do you think he would be a good signing for your club? Let’s hear your views.

  1. Johnny B Says:

I would have him at the Lane even if he was an ex goon…so was O’Hara after all…COYS!

  2. Villified Says:

I would love to see Bentley at Villa, him on right, Young on lefty and Gabriel and big John up front would be truly frightening. Bentley and Young are the 2 best crossers of a ball in the league too!

  3. Wun Says:

he is a spurs supporter so wouldnt be suprised if he came to us :)

  4. James Says:

I think Bentley will go to Spurs if given the chance, as he is a Spurs fan. I also think that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool will go for better known, big name players from the Continent, or south America.
I would love to see Bentley at Spurs, but not for the £15 mil Ive herd someone will have to pay. I dont see the point in payin £15 mil for someone who plays in a position where we alredy have someone better in Aaron Lennon. Can Bentley play through the middle? Or on the left?

  5. RedsRule Says:

Rafa will get Bentley then with Babel on left we will have 2 quality wingers to provide Torres with even better service. Add Barry to the midfield and we can finally compete with United and the title will be coming back to Anfield. Surely if the player has ambition it’s Liverpool he will want to join!

  6. James Says:

No offence mate, but just cos u get barry and bentley, doesnt mean ull compete with utd. Ronaldo is better than bentley, n carrick, scholes, hargreaves, anderson r all better than barry. u need a bit better than bentley and barry

  7. timao Says:

When Bentley turned down the England U-21s he was a villain, booed at every ground. But when Jamie Carragher and Paul Scholes refuse to play for the senior England team they are treated as heroes. Can anyone please explain???

  8. Stu Says:

Bentley don’t support the spuds and never has…. he was actually a Man Ure supporter! Who cares where he ends up? He is an arrogant player who is overrated in my humble opinion. 6 goals and 11 assists an excellent season? I don’t think so! That’s worth £15million is it????

  9. tom Says:

I would love see david bentley at the lane him and
luka modric and robbie keane, if we keep berbatov looks like a formindable attack

  10. RedsRule Says:

I agree to a certain extent but then Gerrard and mascherano are every bit as good as United’s centre mid in my opinion. We’ve lacked quality on the right as Kuyt is not good enough so Bentley would be a huge plus!

  11. James Says:

bentley is a spurs fan, not a utd fan. hes from london, and i read a story about it before. also i sat a few rows behind him at the spurs reading game the season reading came up. but i assume he went to woch spurs vs reading cos he was a utd fan.

  12. Gunnersaurus Says:

Dennis Bergkamp was a spuds fan but he was not stupid enough to go there, if he has ambition he will go to liverpool where he will get a game. No point going to Chelsea and Rovers are better side than Spuds anyway!!

  13. James Says:

dennis bergkamp was also a cheat, so the gooners are welcome to him. last time i checked, rovers werent beating you 5-1 on the way to winning the carling cup. rovers havint qualified for europe this season, and didnt even make it into the group stages last year. meaning there definately better.

  14. sir billy nick Says:

bentley was and is a spurs fan (could’nt get out of ar5ena1 quick enough), but james, benno is not from london he is a peterborough lad! but yes it would be good to see him in a spurs shirt, we can all see that he has got so much better than when he was at the gurners!!!!

  15. Gunnersaurus Says:

So the Spuds want another of our rejects, Ricketts, O’Hara…now Bentley…embarrassing!

  16. James Says:

yeh sorry i read it after i wrote that, i assumed he was a londoner, supportin spurs n startin off at the gooners etc.

  17. James Says:

Atleast were tryna invest in the countries home grown players. if arsenal had more faith in people like o’hara, rickets and bentley, then maybe england wouldnt be so crap. Arsene didnt like bentley cos he wasnt young enough for him.

  18. Gunnersaurus Says:

yeah ricketts would be an england star by now lol….don’t be silly what have spurs done for england….Jenas, Dawson, Huddlestone…..thanks alot!!!

  19. James Says:

king, robinson, jenas, dawson, lennon, huddlestone, woodgate and bent all play for england and r at spurs atm. Defoe was last season. who have arsenal given to england? walcott. thank god he was in the last world cup squad, made a hell of a difference to england.

  20. Gunnersaurus Says:

Oh yes they’ve all done well haven’t they…why glorify signing rubbish english players???

  21. sir billy nick Says:

gonna jump in here, you square dial gurners supporters dont get it do you?? king was not a buy & when fit he is the best centre half this country has? even capello stated that he (king) and vidic are pound for pound the best centre halfs in europe, also to call lennon and woodgate (who turned you down) bad signings there ages not that too dissimlar lennon has achieved a hell of a lot more than theo!!! and as for your earlier post i have to agree ricketts was a rickett but o’hara is a very good player as is bentley i think sour grapes there??? when this rule for english players arrives, and iot will very soon? you will struggle! as wenger cannot get his head around the mentality of an english player and that is the truth he does struggle with english player’s

  22. James Says:

yeh we could just sign rubbish foreign players like lehman

  23. Gunnersaurus Says:

yeah he was rubbish when we went through an entire season unbeaten…good point!

  24. sir billy nick Says:

james thats the point with dial square gurners they can watch football but they dont understand it

  25. Darren Cowzer Says:

Bentley and Scott Parker for Everton Please ! ;)

  26. James Says:

yeh i get what you mean about the gooners mate. they only see arsenal as the best, and everyone else as rubbish

  27. Gunnerkillya Says:

Gunnersaurus, be afraid. We’ve signed two quality players already this summer, and will add more in the next couple of months. We’ve got plenty of cash to throw around, and players want to join us. Ok, Berba wants to leave and we’ll miss his skill, but not his temperament. And 25 million will soften the blow nicely.

You’ve bought Ramsey and that’s about it. He’s good, but won’t have much impact this season. You need experienced players, but Wenger just won’t touch anyone over 27.

You can crow about Arsenal being a better team, but you must start to realise your position is getting weaker. The yids made fools of you on the way to winning a cup last season, we’re spending big money on class players, whereas your transfer window is as quiet as a library. Will Rosicky be fit in time? Will Hleb and Adebayor leave? That’s all you’ve got to read about this summer, no wonder you’re on this site instead, you must be bored senseless.
