Spanish Striker Rated More Highly than Fernando Torres Chased by Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham & Chelsea
Speculation remains rife that Spanish hotshot David Villa will be joining his striking international team-mate in the Premier League next season. His club side Valencia are reportedly in financial difficulties which have enabled talents such as Villa, Joaquin and David Silva to be made available for sale. There should be no shortage of interested clubs in the Spanish striker as he’s one of the most high profile and consistent strikers in Europe.
Throughout the summer Premier League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea have all been linked with the 26-year-old. This shouldn’t be of any surprise as Villa’s scoring record is quite magnificent. He’s scored an impressive 59 goals in just 101 League appearances for the club with includes 18 goals in 28 League games this season despite Valencia struggling in mid-table. In fact, throughout his career the diminutive hitman has a superb goals per game ratio of 142 goals in 289 League appearances for Sporting Gijon, Real Zaragoza and Valencia. In each of his 8 seasons Villa has scored double figures and surely at just 26 wouldn’t be much of a gamble for any Premier League side. He has expressed an interest in joining the Gunners in the past but whether Arsene Wenger would spend such a huge amount on one player is highly debatable.
In his homeland Villa is rated as a better player than Liverpool’s Fernando Torres who took England by storm last season. Despite his stature he scores his fair amount of headed goals and like Torres can create his own chances as well as finish off moves with devastating affect. He has a far more impressive international scoring record than the former Atletico Madrid striker as Villa has scored 14 goals in 30 international compared to Torres 15 goals in 47 caps. The Valencia man will spearhead Spain’s Euro 2008 bid and is surely only going to enhance his superb reputation at the tournament.
So would you like to see this Spanish sensation in the Premier League? Would he be the answer to Liverpool’s, Arsenal’s and Chelsea’s title ambitions or could he take Spurs to the next level? Let’s hear your views.

Come to Spurs David with Capel, Modric and Dos Santos we would be unstoppable….Viva Juande Ramos!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:04
Imagine him and Torres together….we would have the firepower to finally blow United out of the water…come on Rafa…bomb out Voronin, Crouch, Riise etc and bring in this class act!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:09
I would be more than happy to sell Berbs if we got Villa, he scores more goals and would see us fly above the Goons who are without a doubt on the slide…COYS!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:12
yidstar:
Blablabla…..maybe Spurs should try and get in the top 10 before you start talking about being unstoppable!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:13
come Yids, focus on finishing top 6 or even top half before you start labelling yourselves unstoppable. pathetic, yes. unstoppable? “top 4 team, your havin’ a laugh”
May 29th, 2008 at 13:14
united don’t need him. Liverpool can’t afford him. Arsenal don’t really need him either. That only leaves Chelsea. But Abramovich won’t sign him. I don’t reckon this player will end up in the EPL - more likely to go to Italy.
May 29th, 2008 at 13:17
torres an villa….. unstoppable…. just watch these two in the euros an see how deadly they could be at liverpool
May 29th, 2008 at 13:20
most players who intersted playing footballwho is alot of abition who to learn will go to arsenal or manu if they want money they will go to cheslea. wenger willbuy two attacking players at the most, one winger on striker. he will concentrate more on defence
May 29th, 2008 at 13:20
He wont come to the Premier League in my opinion. He’ll sign for either Barca or Real Madrid!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:22
elninoT9 have you ever even seen them play together? well i have and its a well known fact they dont play well together, its similar to the lampard gerrard situation, they’re to similar. get your fatcs right
May 29th, 2008 at 13:25
Yes - he will do well in the EPL, but Arsenal have Adebayor, Eduardo, RvP, Walcott and Vela with a string of even more talented youngsters waiting behind them. Villa is a bit like Eduardo actually. Man U could use him - better than Rooney IMO! Chelsea could also use him if the Drog goes. Cant see him playing with the Drog though.
Spurs - yes maybe he wants an easy life and only to go for the Carling cup.
May 29th, 2008 at 13:26
tottenham say the same thing every year! we (Arsenal) really are not afraid! lol
go and cough up 20 mill for him u’ll jus end up in the same situaution as valencia, a few points off relgation with financial problems at the end of the season! “Gio” is overrated and berbatov’s world class but didnt make much difference last season, u still finished in the bottom half! heard it all before spuds fans
but i’m glad ur so easily made optimistic!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:28
YidYank, the Goons on a slide? Wasn’t this the same gibberish you Spuds were poluting the web with in the pre season? And I thought you were replacing us inthe top4, what happened? However its always good to fantasise about it if you can’t get it inreality. Keep on wet-dreaming man.
what am I doing responding to your attention seeking post?
May 29th, 2008 at 13:37
you are not the force you once were and you know it, the battle hardened players such as Vieira and Petit are no more and all the best fancy passing in the world does not make up for your bottling it at crucial stage. I hope Villa does not go to you as he is a real class apart but then again we are more ambitious than you so more chance of him coming to us!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:48
I am a United fan but considering your style of play I advice you go to Arsenal u will make a good stricking partner with Fabregas.
You career shall go on.
At united we love swift and not playful players, infact we are ok in all quaters,I just pray Ronaldo stays.
May 29th, 2008 at 13:56
He is much better than Torres and will lead the Blues back to the title, even with a poor manager we pushed united close…a top man like Mancini will leave the Goons, Scousers and Spuds trailing like usual in our wake!
Blue is the colour!
May 29th, 2008 at 13:59
You Arsenal fans make me laugh so what we(spurs) finished bottom hlf at least we didnt slip up at the top of the league. You allowed chelsea to take second place, who in my opinion are the poorest team in the top 6. We still won more than chelsea and arsenal this season n we finished in bottom half, with a comfortable win over arsenal and chelsea. Althought all this i think David Villa will suit Arsenal more than n e premiership team. Arsenal are going to be the most deadliest team next season as much as i hate to admit it.
May 29th, 2008 at 14:02
actually yidyank you dont know a lot.he already refused chelsea.he has repeatedly stated that arsenal is the club he wants to join as they “suit my style the most”.his quote.another was “arsenal come and get me”.he has never mentioned spurs.he is also close freinds with fabregas.now.using your brain.where do you think he will end up?spurs beat arsenal once in 10 years and you are not replacing anyone.get a grip.and google your facts before you speak.
May 29th, 2008 at 14:03
okay yes he would be good at arsenal he is amazing, and as for spurs they have no chance in hell of signing him. He would wnat a move to the big four or a team that can play champions league football, sorry spurs you can buy who you want you will never be considered as one of the top four in england, they are only for truly great teams like arsenal, man u, chelsea and liverpool teams capable of making other teams look rubbish, but spurs don’t need them to look rubiish anyway
May 29th, 2008 at 14:05
He would be even better friends with Diego Capel I reckon and Juande, they could all have tapas together….as if Arsenal would spend £20million, your days of ambition have long gone my friend. When did he refuse Chelsea? money talks and I am afraid in Chelsea want him then he is as good as theirs!
May 29th, 2008 at 14:26
wow he said all that about arsenal, thats just such a give away that he will be wearing a arsenal jersey in the new season, not a hope Wenger will splash the cash on Villa, he is also friends with Torres and remember Benitez has a lot of contacts in Valencia, so we shall see topgunner, I think if anything he will stay in Spain, but defo liverpool before Arsenal,
May 29th, 2008 at 14:28
Yidyank, how are Arsenal not ambitious? They were very close to winning silverware this season but caffled out at the last bit (they do that most seasons). HAHAHA, westham are more ambitious than spuds even with curbishley.
May 29th, 2008 at 14:40
Villa is a very good player but I think Torres is even better. For me Torres is the best stiker in the league. I am a Spurs fan and I do not think he will be coming to us unfortunately. The problem with Villa is his height so he could not replace Berbs or Drogba. Of all the teams I think he would suit Liverpool the best as they usually play a 4-4-2, but if I was Liverpool I would buy a world class winger/RM/LM then I could really see them challenging for the title. For my team I am not make any predictions for next season but I am confident Ramos will have a good season.
May 29th, 2008 at 14:45
Bob, I must admit I was impressed with Arsenal last season you have the makings of a very good team. Fabregas is an incredible player. Arsenal were very unlucky with injuries to their strikers. Next season watch out for Walcott.
May 29th, 2008 at 15:02
what everyone seems to be forgetting is that Arsenal is all about youth and this season Wenger’s policy will pay off…last season was one season too early (I even called it in the beginning)but now, now its time for silverware.
May 29th, 2008 at 15:04
Bobby, you sad delusional goon! Wet Spam have more ambition than Spurs? Haven’t you looked at their team lately? It’s the Spurs C team! In regards to ambition, don’t we have one of the best managers in Europe leading us? What has Wenger won in Europe? Another fact, that you seemed to skirt round nicely, is that the only London team this season to win silverware was Spurs! This was with a new manager, a new back four and with arguably our best player out for most of the season! To be honest, Villa isn’t even on our radar, we have Keane who is extremely similar so why would we waste 20 million on him?!?
May 29th, 2008 at 15:20
I think tottenham should get him and try and use him as another darren bent. he seemed to excel for his price tag what a steal. VILLA GO TO LIVERPOOL.
May 29th, 2008 at 15:31
I hope the Juande factor kicks in again…it’s already worked with Modric, Woodgate and Palace’s boy wonder Bostock apparently!
May 29th, 2008 at 15:44
Even I know the player would not go to Arsenal, they have no cash and no ambition…they enjoyed a good season but showed they don’t have the winning mentality and their stars always seem to want to leave given half a chance….pretty football yes, silverware no chance!
May 29th, 2008 at 18:40
No winning mentality, no ambition, no cash? You’re having a laugh..
No chance of silverware? The only reason we didn’t win the prem this year was because our squad wasn’t deep enough after the unexpected injuried to some of our key players. You can expect that to be rectified this summer without Arsenal having to spend £50 million or however much.
May 29th, 2008 at 22:22
Please spurs fans you have one nothing major in 20 odd years
You have only beaten Arsenal once in 10 years. We won the leauge at your ground. You stadium is a load of crap. We have a great all round manager who does not put us in to debt and we produce world class players and play at times the best football in the world. We have a young team anda great future. We only lost the leauge because we had some bad luck and crucial decisions went against us and manuhad the luck again with the dodgy refs at old trafford.
May 30th, 2008 at 07:06
greatest moment ever. when west ham beat tottenham final game of 05/06 season and they missed out on a champions league place. 30,000 arsenal supporters singing we are forever blowing bubbles. doesnt it suck to be a tottenham supporter, all that potential and a mickey mouse cup and a bottom four finish.
May 30th, 2008 at 07:36
Oh yes it’s terrible being the only London side to win something this season…really horrible!
I suppose you beating our injury ravaged side was a bit like beating you 4-3 at your place….i wish i was a Hammer who supports a team that is a mere feeding club and yoyo’s up and down from the PL…you lucky, lucky people!
May 30th, 2008 at 07:48
L.F.C. JUST NEED THIS HITMAN AND A GOOD WINGER

May 30th, 2008 at 10:29
agreed.he did say liverpool would be his other choice also.torres factor probably.and their style there too.but spurs?never.sad realy.spurs are under some mass delusion of granduer.realy cant wait to go up against them this season.wel destroy them.what will they say then.prob just bang on about the carling for the next ten years.wel see on the pitch.revenge was on our agenda fom that day anyway.
May 30th, 2008 at 13:47
am chelsea fan we needed a manager who can take us to the next level.
