Who is Better: Arsenal Target Samir Nasri or Tottenham Target Giovani Dos Santos?

Reports suggest both Spurs and Arsenal will be signing 2 young starlets with plenty of talent and unlimited potential as both clubs strengthen for next season. The players in question or French star Samir Nasri and Mexican wonderkid Giovani Dos Santos.
At just 20-years-old Nasri has already made 121 League appearances for his club side Marseille and scored 11 goals. He has already been capped 8 times for his country as well as scoring 2 international goals. The young French star is also part of France’s Euro 2008 squad and is tipped for great things and is expected to join the Gunners for a figure of around £12million.
Tottenham are also reportedly on the verge of signing a young star with a big future in the shape of Barcelona’s Giovani Dos Santos. The Mexican teenager has been strongly linked to Spurs, Chelsea and Man City in the past but is expected to be arriving at White Hart Lane this summer. He has literally just turned 19 but has already made 28 League appearances in the colours of arguably the biggest club side in the world. His 3 League goals for Barca all came in what could be his last match for the club away to Murcia on the final weekend of the Spanish season. Despite his tender age he has already won 5 full international caps for Mexico and would surely be a major coup for Juande Ramos.
So which young star do you think is the better player and the better prospect? Would these talented starlets adapt easily to the Premier League and which club would be getting the best deal? Let’s hear your views.

Dos Santos has been playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and isjust 19..he is top class whilst Nasri has hardly pulled up trees at Marseille. Anyone who can get in Barca’s side has to be special….watch us go!
COYS
May 30th, 2008 at 09:15
We all know Arsenal play the best football so anyone who comes to us will fit in better, Nasri is quality whilst Dos Santos is fragile and does nothing…another dud for the spuds! hahahahha
May 30th, 2008 at 09:17
Oh look a little 4×2 boy from middlesex is happy he is first and guess who’s the better player? yidstar hasnt seen any of these players before, but ill come to you as the leading authority on delusioned mid table mediocrity. cheers for that. 1961, billy nich those were the days
May 30th, 2008 at 09:17
LOL you’re having a laugh mate. GDS has been bitching all season, fighting for more money from Barca while other you team-mates like Bojan got on with the job. Mark my words - GDS is all trouble - I would love to see him at 3 Point Lane.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:19
Nasri is absolute class. His finish could possibly do with some work, but he’s 20 and under the guise of L’Arsene. He will rule the world in 2 years.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:21
if GDS was THAT good, Barca wouldnt let him go would they? L’Om are hardly in Barcas league.
3 point lane, ha ha ha. why not see if Bents brother is for sakle for another 16M, idiots!
May 30th, 2008 at 09:21
“”We all know Arsenal play the best football so anyone who comes to us will fit in better, Nasri is quality whilst Dos Santos is fragile and does nothing…another dud for the spuds! hahahahha”"
but you dont play winning footall!
half your team is fragile but they tend to get away with it
look forward to the trophy count this time next year
May 30th, 2008 at 09:22
I have seen Dos Santos in the flesh and he is a young ronaldinho and even the great man himself said he is a pleasure to play alongside…there is no comparison with Nasri who is another Grimandi!
May 30th, 2008 at 09:23
Dos santos is an idiot if he leaves barca. Barca are 1 of the biggest clubs in the world and spuds are 1 of the worst. Dos santos is not even ready to play in the prem, it doesnt take a genius to figure that out if you have seen him play, if he has got problems with adjusting to laliga imagine how it would be in England….
May 30th, 2008 at 09:24
what a pointless discussin, two completely different players. one is a midfielder, one is a forward, one keeps it simple and probes until he finds an opening, one uses his flair to try and create space. completely different players, at different stages in their careers, who serve different functions. stupid article!
May 30th, 2008 at 09:24
great little blog/article
as a spurs supporter i would love to see gio at the lane.
both are outstanding talents and have great futures ahead of them.
lets just hope he signs for us first
May 30th, 2008 at 09:26
a lot of players have found leaving barca a good move you goons should know that
i think the gaffer is the source of attracting these top class players because hes a WINNER
May 30th, 2008 at 09:30
I am a Spurs supporter and think that Dos Santos is probably more talented but is more flashy and troublesome. And then you have the Wenger factor - he is able see something in a player and exploit it fully. He is also able to bring a player along gradually. Even though I am Spurs, I think Arsenal have the better deal.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:30
Both playes are outstanding talents.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:41
I dunno wot all the arsenal fans are chatting about, type in Dos Santos on youtube and tell me ifhe ain’t class.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:41
Na Na Na Na Naaaaaaa The player we might sign is 1 million times better than the player ye may sign. So there. And if you say otherwise ill get me big brother after ya.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:44
Type Titus Bramble into youtube and he looks like hes Lilian Thuram
May 30th, 2008 at 09:45
why do Goons always get so jealous when we sign top players…it’s what happens when you win silverware players want to join, shame you don’t do that anymore…!
May 30th, 2008 at 09:49
Yidstar, if you have watched Nasri play and still liken him to a Grimandi, you’re an idiot who doesn’t know football.
Nasri is a naturally talented player who can do all kind of things with the ball and his fast footwalk is eye catching.
You’re an idiot, Arsenal obviously has the better deal. As always, what’s new?
May 30th, 2008 at 09:50
This topic was always going nowhere because its going to be dominated by large, with Spurs and Arsenal fans slating each other. Peronally, i cant say anything about Nasri as i dont follow French football. Although, Kaboul arrived from the same league with just as much potential and he has struggled in this league. Wenger is a great coach for sure and he has a great eye for talent, so i’m sure he’ll be a great player. Giovanni looks to have a great deal of potential and has found it hard having only come on as a sub in a lot of games. He has great technical ability but we need to nail him down to one position, preferably the right wing cutting inside, because he’s been playing out wide and through the middle for Barca. He needs a constant position nailed down at his early age in order to develop. I think he’s more comparable to Theo Walcott and i’d be very excited to have him. I think the bigger prospect then the 2 though, ould have to be Diego Capel. I’m really hoping, as a Spurs fan, that we pull this one off.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:54
Dos Santos has already made a mark in La Liga which is by common consent a stronger league than the French and he has managed to come through at one of the strongest clubs in world football at Barca where they must have the choice of untold young talent. To emerge there you have to be very, very special. Although it is a long way from confirmed I hope that this deal happens.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:55
Yeah agree with Abe really, I am a Tottenham fan and am excited about the PROSPECT of Gio joining us, however compared to Nasri he is a little inexperienced. Not all players that leave Barca are dross.
Both are talented with huge potential, so lets just wait and see eh? Can’t understand why Ar5ena1 fans continuously mock Tottenham, if we are that insignificant to you why bother bad mouthing us? I think some fans are more worried than they seem.
Also funnily how Arsenal play the best football in the country but haven’t won anything for 3 seasons??? Hmmm strange.
May 30th, 2008 at 09:58
why is Dos Santos being sold, Everytime he played apart from the last match he was useless, never did anything to help out his team mates. Wenger has already rejected him, and he wont ever fully make it, if he does spurs will be forced to sell to Man U or Chelsea. Mdric is far better, and so is Nasri.
The real comparison should be between Nasri and Modric, Very simular players.
Tottenham fans are dulleded, half of their team was first rejected by Arsenal.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:01
Rejected by Arsenal? are you mad? yeah I am sure they all were…ridiculous! Wait till Gareth Bale comes back we will have a superb side.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:07
Yeah think Arsenal rule is slightly manic, half of our team rejected by Arsenal??? Which half, the half that includes Berba, Bale, Woody, Keane, Zokora (turned Arsenal down), Lennon, Steed???
Seriously Arsenal fans just get a grip, we are not deluded just excited about the prospect of a decent season next year and this excitement is backed up by the signing of quality players left right and centre. GDS (poss), Modric, Dunne, Capel all quality in their field.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:07
why do Spuds always pay over the odds for players. they seem to get mugged almost every time. Bent - mugged. modric - he will be a crackin player - but how much did they pay for him? - mugged. And now Barca must be rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of gettin 12 mil for Dos Santos. Hes a good player no doubt. but 12 mil - mugged
May 30th, 2008 at 10:08
I am a spurs fan and have lived in France and last year in spain. I have seen Nasri play when he was only 17, he was playing brilliantly, why have we not gone for him, surely we have more money than Arsenal. One hell of a player. Ben Afra is better thou.
I have also seen Dos Santos a 4 matches at the camp nou, yeh he was good in the last match but throughout the season he was awfull. Trying to much on the ball, not passing when he should, not tracking back helping team mates, cant realy tackle, im not sure if he can adapt to the prem, if he improves he will be one realy good player. The papaers in Spain dont realy rate him anymore. Barca have even offered him to a number of clubs not one apart from Tottenham or Man City realy want him. What does that say about him.
Im looking forward to Modric, although I understand that Barca, Arsenal and Liverpool were only willing to pay £14 mil for him. Im amazed this guy is class. Well worth the money.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:09
well said Brendan, now we need a midfield enforcer to replace Zokora and we will have quality side. Though we may need a few sales first as it seems like Champ Manager at the mo. I would like a bit of Poulsen or Gattuso if he fancied a challenge as he is expected to leave AC
May 30th, 2008 at 10:09
dunne ?…lol..lol..lol..hhahah..
May 30th, 2008 at 10:10
You use Zakora and Steed as examples. Ha Ha
Why not use Jenas & Taino too
May 30th, 2008 at 10:11
Dos Santos has a 215 million euro buyout clause on his contract. Good luck with that.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:12
Senderos? Eboue? Walcott? lol…lol..lol..hhahah
May 30th, 2008 at 10:13
This is great. it reminds me of when i was 9 and argueing with my school mates over who had the best team
May 30th, 2008 at 10:14
not long ago then
May 30th, 2008 at 10:14
i’m an arsenal fan…but i think giovani dos santos is a massive prospect….him and vela are nearly as good as each other…..as an arsenal fan i would love to see him not go to spurs and for us to sign him…but we can’t fit him anywhere…if spuds pull it off…itll be a massive coup…..but gds is way better than diego capel…he’s too fragile….also nasri is a tireless midfielder who can bring flair to the side when required…different players….different functions…
May 30th, 2008 at 10:16
But GDS is rubbish cause hes now linked with spurs - fact
May 30th, 2008 at 10:16
So you really think that spurs really will be able to sign Giovanni ? hahahaa
Barca have said that they want to lower their age in the team.. And sell Giovanni.. Yeah riiiight..
May 30th, 2008 at 10:17
Clever blog, challenging both Arsenal and Spurs fans to this debate. It was obvious what it would descend into. I can’t believe so many gooners and yids fell for that one and entered the ensuing slanging match. Anyway I am an Arsenal fan and am quite excited about Nasri (if and when the deal is completed). I think he will settle fairly quickly and just get better from there. I feel it won’t take long before he offers us more than Hleb. Dos Santos does look good but I am not sure about him as a winger in the EPL. Lennon showed all the promise as a winger and has faded a bit. Dos Santos is not slow but is not blisteringly quick and is still a little on the slight side. The EPL full backs and wingers tend to get tighter and more physical than on the continent. Nasri looks slightly more robust with a low centre of gravity. He seems to have that ability to physically hold of challenges and has lots of trickery as well. I think Dos Santos will be a good attacking player but I feel Ramos may look to a 4-5-1 system when Dos Santos plays so you can play both him and Modric in more central attacking roles. This will give him more space where defenders and midfielders can’t get so tight to him. Anyway we shall all just have to wait and see.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:19
walcott is by far better than any spuds players thats for sure..i’ve never seen aaron lennon go past 6 players in a champions league match..ohhhhh my bad…you dont play champions league matches…
May 30th, 2008 at 10:23
Same old sh*te from Spuds fans, this year is our year etc etc. Every year I read this bullsh*t about how you are going to be better than us and finish higher up the league. Forever in our shadow, useless b*stards. Barca aint going to let a 19 year old prospect go for £12mill unless he is trouble/not as good as expected. Yidstar you are on drugs, Gattuso at Spurs!!! Pah - faggot
May 30th, 2008 at 10:24
arseanl are under more pressure next seaon then spurs to deliver, come on you spurs, we all no arse bottle it on inside an next season will be no different for them………dos santos for me……. aresenl dont buy known names only unknown
May 30th, 2008 at 10:24
Spurs fans - well done! Some good signings yet again - please continue to say how you will finish above Arsenal like you did last summer and get excited about overpaid talent. I won so much money from your supporters last year!
May 30th, 2008 at 10:25
Why do you think Dos Santos is leaving Barca? It’s cos he hasn’t produced but he has the attitude of someone who has.
He scored a hat trick on the last day of the season against a relegated team, away from home (so there was no expectation from Barca fans) with the match being meaningless and suddenly he’s a God.
Dos Santos failed so he’s leaving Barca (unlike Bojan) while Nasri has succeeded so he’s leaving Marseille.
Also, more than anything Dos Santos has been physically bullied off the ball in La Liga, a much less physical league than the Premier League.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:27
No doubt that Nasri’s development is ahead of GDS’s and that he is currently the better player. But Nasri is nearly two years older than GDS and has four years’ first team experience. By comparison, GDS has only just completed his first season as a first team player. So it’s hardly surprising that GDS hasn’t yet made the same impact as Nasri. Give GDS a few years of first team experience and he might well eclipse Nasri. He certainly has the potential.
As to concerns about GDS’s discipline / attitude, I think that Ramos will be the perfect manager for him. Unlike Rijkaard (who is renowned for a laissez faire attitude to his players), Ramos is a strict disciplinarian who perfectly understands the psychology of players and how to get the best out of them. If GDS has agreed to sign for Spurs, then he will already know what Ramos expects of him in terms of attitude.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:27
I also remember all the hype about Zakora and how he chose Spuds over Arsenal!! Oh no, we missed out there!! Yidstar you need more than a midfield enforcer mate, a new centre forward when Berbatroll leaves to fill his dirty Eastern European pockets!!! ha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
May 30th, 2008 at 10:31
Gooners live in this tiny world where they win everything but in this world win sod all 5-1 anyone lol both are good players
May 30th, 2008 at 10:35
To gun and DosSantosaintleaving - you might not care to believe that Spurs can / will sign GDS but all the reports - both here and in Spain - suggest that a deal has been agreed between all parties.
We’ll see soon enough, I guess.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:35
gooner, thats a good one, classic about the champions league football. I actually laughed at that one - anyhoo. So your really saying that Walcott is better than Berbatov, wow good judgement, probably the same kind of judgement you lot use when saying that GDS isn’t a good player with great potential. Keep going goons!!
May 30th, 2008 at 10:36
Has anyone else noticed most arsenal fans praising Nasri and slating gio, and most of the spurs fans give structured pro’s and cons on both players!!!!!
Funny that.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:37
Just shows the Arsenal fans capacity for anything structured.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:43
To Wenger - would those “dirty Eastern European pockets” be similar to Hleb’s? And to Flamini’s dirty French pockets?
You’re right, though. Spurs do need more players if we are to mount a credible attempt to finish in the top 4. A new first choice goalkeeper for starters; a proper holding midfielder; and a back up centre back (the signing of Richard Dunne is apparently imminent). And yes, a striker to replace Berba.
The good news for Spurs is that we can afford to meet Ramos’ requirements.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:44
they are so bitter and twisted, i guess because their time at the top is over and they can no longer win anything…shame that!
May 30th, 2008 at 10:44
To be fair Wenger, Zokora isn’t a bad player, not a world beater but gives his all for the team. Dont think you’ll see him taking money over loyalty unlike a certain Mr Falmini, so please take into account recent history before you make a comment about Berbatov, who as yet has still to make a decision on his future.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:46
And you know that if Santos was going to the L’Arse, he would be the best thing since sliced bread.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:49
*Obviously I meant Flamini.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:53
our arrogance proved to be our downfall last year in the karma stakes, just as the goons arrogance will prove to be theirs this time round.no spurs fans are saying we will be top 4,but there is the chance that we win more than them again.do they still think jol is in charge?this article is just a pure hit whore designed to encourage arguing and it worked.as for the players in question they are both great talents just one from france(wenger)one from spain(ramos)
coys
ps.neither has signed so pointless really, goons watch super modric in the euro’s
May 30th, 2008 at 10:58
Confirmed Spurs have just signed their wonderkid…John Bostock haha
May 30th, 2008 at 11:00
Welcome to the Lane Johnny Bostock…turned down some of the biggest clubs in Europe to join the Ramos revolution…have some of that Goons! It just gets better and better doesn’t it!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:02
who cares about Tottenscum???????
May 30th, 2008 at 11:02
RVP - guess that stands for Rapists Very rarely Prosecuted anyway mock all you like fella’s those who laugh last laugh loudest and longest.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:03
hows this for quality class youngsters Bale, Dos Santos, Taarabt, Bostock etc etc…the future is bright, the future is lillywhite!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:04
hmm I’m sure Bostock turned down Barca aswell, seems to be a trend developing here!!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:04
Spurs..bigger than Barca…I like it! Life is good!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:06
Yes and you spuds haven’t laughed since 1961, Bostock would have got Champions League quicker with Palace
May 30th, 2008 at 11:08
And hows this for quality youngsters? Fabregas, Nasri, Walcott, Vela, Denilson, Diaby and quite possibly Ramsey! Jealous?
May 30th, 2008 at 11:10
nope
May 30th, 2008 at 11:11
RVP - laugh all you like. I’m actually a lot more excited about the signing of Bostock than the possible signing of GDS.
Bostock is one of the most talented young players in England - reckoned by most informed judges to be as certain to make it as a top player as any player can be at 16 years old. Which means that, in Bostock, Dean Parrett and Danny Rose, Tottenham have three of the best midfielders in youth football in England.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:13
Yes ur possibly right, they could be as good as Wilshire and Lansbury some day.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:13
Ramsey? Why are you talking about him? He’s a Cardiff City player. A great many clubs are interested and there has been no suggestion that he is close to signing for Arsenal.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:14
quote “Yes and you spuds haven’t laughed since 1961, Bostock would have got Champions League quicker with Palace”
Oh dear. They just don’t shut up do they!!!!
Is anyone gona actually come off their stereotypical gooner stall and add something constructive here?
May 30th, 2008 at 11:15
And sky sports news says you haven’t signed Bostock
May 30th, 2008 at 11:15
what’s Angela lansbury got to do with it? RVP? I love Murder she wrote too but she is a yiddo too!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:16
it’s on the official site my bitter Goon pal
May 30th, 2008 at 11:17
Well according to the Palace website they are denying it, i’m very bitter and jealous of your young players haha
May 30th, 2008 at 11:21
Wilshire, Lansbury? Bostock is already ahead of them. Played first team football aged 15. Rose, too, has already played first team football.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:22
Unlike Arsenal, Tottenham are continuing to purchase and the develope the best young talent in England, whilst your youngsters may be better (who knows) at least our production line of talent allows gifted ENGLISH players the chance to further their career at a top premier league club. If every team were like Arsenal our national side would struggle immensly, clubs like your are strangling the life out of our game.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:23
also with the foreign quota coming in 2011/12 i think we will be in a great position don’t you??
May 30th, 2008 at 11:23
rvp-you sound about 12 fella shouldn’t you be doing home work or something?typical little mouthy goon, quiet as a mouse outside the parklane, but all large behind his keyboard, mug!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:24
We wil see who makes the bigger impact in a couple of years my friend
May 30th, 2008 at 11:25
ARSEANL FOR A TOP CLUB WON NOTHING FOR 3 YEARS………..WE CAN ACCEPT IT WE WONT GET IN CL (BUT WHERE TRYING AN IT WILL HAPPEN) ITS ALL MEDIA HYPE …….ALSO ARSE AINT AS GOOD AS THEY THINK THEY ARE THER THREW AWAY THE LEAGUE 8 POINTS UP…….
May 30th, 2008 at 11:26
RVP - I’ll excuse your ignorance…you’re only a gooner, after all.
Just for your info - Bostock was not signed to a contract at Palace so he is now a Spurs player. Nothing that Crystal Palace can do about it. Palace are only saying that they and Spurs have yet to come to an agreement as to compensation - which will now, most likely, be settled by arbitration.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:27
Since when does 11th in the league make you a top team?
May 30th, 2008 at 11:31
RVP are you being serious?? A blip in league form and a poor finish for one season doesn’t detract from the fact that taking into consideration a number of factors, such as financial, stadium, team development etc.. we still remain a top club, and remain the most likely to break the top 4 cartel.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:31
Yidstar - the chances of the 6/5 law ever being implemented are minimal. The EU has ruled in the past that it is not legally enforceable and there is no reason to suppose that that will change any time in the near future.
Nevertheless, I’m still delighted that we have so many exciting young English players in our development squad.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:33
Is it actually possible to have a season long blip, your only average face it
May 30th, 2008 at 11:36
lol u spurs fans r funny dos santos has played most of his games in the cups were the fringe players get a go like arsenal play der youth players in the carling cup
May 30th, 2008 at 11:36
Let’s see now….I think it’s possible to have a three season long blip. Trophies? What trophies?
Yes, Spurs were average last season. But, under Ramos, we’ll be better next season. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. That’s not to say that Spurs will crack the top four. But we’ll make a far better fist of it this season.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:37
We were average last season yes but the previous 2 finished 5th as for the blip mate, you could say that the damage done by Jol at the beginning of the season was irreconcilable and as a result the fastest track into europe was taken (Carling Cup) beating ney thrashing your lot along the way.
Lets just wait for next season eh? Also when was the last time you won anything??
May 30th, 2008 at 11:39
I’ve held my hands up many a time to my arsenal fan mates, and given them credit when it’s due. I just don’t understand the mentality of some of these scum fans though. Why can’t they just turn around and give us a bit of credit. It ain’t hard to see that wer’re doing a really good job for building for the future.
I think it will be great if we can compete with arsenal again on the same level. Imagine the yids v the scum in the CL. That’s what it’s all about.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:39
gooner 4 lyf - just for the record 8 of the players who lost to Spurs in the Carling Cup Semi, beat Milan in the San Siro so not a competitions just for your youth team mate.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:43
gooner 4 lyf - another ignorant gooner. GDS played in 28 La Liga games, 5 Champions’ League games and 4 Copa del Rey games last season (his first for Barca’s first team).
But it’s irrelevant anyway. He has only just turned 19. He is therefore not being bought for his experience. Whoever buys him (and it looks like it could be Spurs) will do so because he possesses prodigious natural talent.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:46
bottom line we have actually won something more recently than you,end of conversation.as for bostock he was only on a youth contract at palace and has signed a pro contract with us,jordon maybe bitter but there is nothing they can do other than wait for compo which they won’t get a lot of,they should of had the foresight to tie him to a real contract mugs!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:47
I love the way you celebrate beating us once in 10 years ha it cracks me up, your right but you will have to finish in the top half before thinking of cracking the top 4
May 30th, 2008 at 11:48
The big difference is the fact that Arsenal have lost Flameni and will lose Hleb. So the Nasri signing will be a straight replacement for Hleb, he may turn out better but not by much. Spurs have signed Modric and now look to add Dunne and Giovanni aswell as Capel to the squad. Spurs are improving their squad, Arsenal are losing some of their best players.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:49
err, we actually celebrated winning silver wear.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:52
And you think Nasri will be the only player coming in?
May 30th, 2008 at 11:52
exactly and we beat Chelsea in the final so no mickey mouse cup this year, first team to beat Man City at their place too last season, we only needed to play for a third of the year. But Seriously give us a break, all Spurs fans know we are behind Arsenal at the moment but we are pro actively bridging that gap and will over take you lot one day.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:53
Oh RVP when was the last time Wenger went on a massive shopping spree??? Arsenal don’t have the cash. Face it.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:57
rvp-ramos has got the measure of wenger so get used to it ,the only difference between us ever was the manager,Ramos aint no hoddle, pleat or jol, this year it might well be you eating your words keep harping on about the past is irelevent although i suppose you have to go back a bit to the times when you actually won things, you finish 3rd or 4th loser every year,no silver ware, qualify for the cl but thats pointless too coz you won’t win that as long as you’ve got a hole in your behind ,your best player even knew that and left to join one that might have a chance.you aint really got that much to crow about have you?
May 30th, 2008 at 11:58
We dont need to go on a shopping spree but Arsene has said he will sign! And yes you probably will break the top 4 some time soon but it wont be at our expence, the future is bright the future is red and white!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:59
We always had a better manager and your forgetting the gulf in class of our players aswell.
May 30th, 2008 at 12:07
rvp-players because of the manager,we got one that will buy wisely now as well and also one that players want to play for.put this with the amounts we spend every year n you should be worried just going to be a matter of time
May 30th, 2008 at 12:09
Yes a title challenging team is worried about an average team overtaking us, Ramos aint that good lads he never won a league in his career and he had a decent sevilla side!
May 30th, 2008 at 12:10
Q: How easy is it to get idiot spurs and arsenal fans to argue over 2 players who most of them have never seen play and, perhaps more importantly, haven’t even signed for their respective clubs yet?
A: Easier than you’d think
May 30th, 2008 at 12:14
I don’t wana get into a debate over ‘ but they started it’, but as i said earlier. Spurs fans were adding constructive discussion with pros and cons on these two players, and arsenal fans were just praisong nasri and slating dos santos. Its bound to get a reaction.
May 30th, 2008 at 12:16
well now you can both slate dos santos cos he’s just come out and said he wants to play for Chelsea.
And don’t get too cocky about it arsenal fans cos if you get nasri he will have 1 or 2 good seasons and then go to a team with real champs league winning potential like henry, viera, hleb and flamini…and cesc before too long.
May 30th, 2008 at 12:22
we will see..i am chuffed about Bostock…would like to have seen Danny Rose get a game or 3 before the end of last season..that is one thing Commolli is getting right!
May 30th, 2008 at 12:27
Ye mate Flamini will have a great chance of winning Champios League because Milan really qualified for it didn’t they? ha
May 30th, 2008 at 12:32
ok, sorry I was trying to soften the blow for you by giving Flamini an excuse for leaving. but as you say Milan haven’t qualified so it must just be that he’s left for a more famous and generally better regarded club.
May 30th, 2008 at 12:40
You stupid stupid fools sp*rs fans! When will you ever learn? Just reading some of the utter crap you come out with is making this friday at work whizz by so much quicker. Yidstar is a joker, some quality stuff there son. You are a shadow of the side we are. Next season will be no different to the one before and the one before that. Enjoy your battle for 5th spot (oooh! exciting!) and here’s hoping you can retain that trophy of all trophies in the Carling cup. I’m looking forward to competing in the REAL competitions that BIG clubs care about.
May 30th, 2008 at 12:41
Or he is a money grabber possibly? and who might you support mate?
May 30th, 2008 at 12:42
competing? really?
do you mean ‘playing in’?
don’t recall arsenal competing for anything this year?
May 30th, 2008 at 12:43
(in answer to RVP)
Rushden & Diamonds - a club so far away from these kinds of riches I can only dream!!
May 30th, 2008 at 12:46
So you don’t care about losing to us in the Carling Cup? So why the bitterness when we mention it.
May 30th, 2008 at 12:48
Fair enough mate at least your loyal but I recall us being in with a shout in the league until the second last game hardly not competing now is it?
May 30th, 2008 at 12:51
Yes pdiddy, competing - 4 points off the top of the league is competing, latter stages of UCL is competing. No one is bitter about 5-1. All Arsenal fans agree the better team won. You just don’t seem to understand it doesn’t mean anything to us. Doesn’t come close to the 2-1 FA cup semi in ‘01. The carling cup is the lowest of our priorities. I would sooner finish 3rd and win nothing than finish 11th and win the carling cup. Find me an Arsenal fan who would differ…
May 30th, 2008 at 12:53
And for people who say Nasri is only good in France, what about Essien, Pires or Zidane?
May 30th, 2008 at 12:57
“RVP are you being serious?? A blip in league form and a poor finish for one season doesn’t detract from the fact that taking into consideration a number of factors, such as financial, stadium, team development etc..”
And yet we have had three seasons, with a huge debt from our stadium, a transition between teams with our top goalscorer -ever- leaving and youth coming through, whilst stil finishing in the top four and this year finishing -only- four point behind manchester united. We finished almost 20 points behind them last year and yet the year after we lost Henry we actually have improved.
Lets put this all into perspective here, because i see all the quotes from Tottenham fans about how arsenal fans never add anything constructive, but all we get from Tottenham fans is blind ignorance. Every year you tell us we are going to drop out of the top four and you will overtake us, it is yet to happen. In fact the -only- thing you have to brag about is the fact you beat us 5-1, your first win over us in almost a decade, so please be realistic. The reason we as arsenal fans don’t give you any respect is because you continually argue a losing case. If you just accepted the fact that Tottenham have not been a football superpower, as most fans like to believe, perhaps we -would- give you some respect. In Wenger’s reign we have won titles, three premierships, Fa cups, and have managed to get to a Champions league final. You have won the Carling Cup. If you compare Wengers first ten years to Fergersons, they are almost identical in silverware, so please, quit with the bravado. Arsenal have won nothing for three years, and yes, we did crumple at the wrong moments, but as a team, Tottenham still have a lot to do in order to break into the top four and actually regularly challenge for top honours. Thats not to say they can’t do it, but just please have some perspective in the whole situation. For the last ten years, you have not been our rivals, because we have been in a different league, Manchester United and Chelsea have been our rivals.
May 30th, 2008 at 13:05
“I would sooner finish 3rd and win nothing than finish 11th and win the carling cup. Find me an Arsenal fan who would differ…”
i think any team would take that - the Carling/MMouse cup only comes into any focus when there is a so called “Double/Treble” on the cards….or it’s won by someone who is surprised by winning it and makes their season/decade
May 30th, 2008 at 13:07
At last something productive from an Arsenal fan. From my own personal point of view as I can’t speak for everyone, I am only too painfully aware that we are in different leagues at the moment. Only saying not too shoot us down when we get excited at the prospect of a decent season. No-one is saying that we will crack the top 4 only that we are probably the best equipped out of all the rest.
The Carling Cup win is just a stick to beat you lot with when the majority of your fans try shooting us down.
May 30th, 2008 at 13:09
theredmenmarchon - you have to remember that the latter stages of this years so-called mickey mouse cup were more competitive than the FA Cup, with Everton, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Man City & Chelsea all in the last 8. So not so mickey mouse.
May 30th, 2008 at 13:20
of course - the Carling Cup was much more competitive that the FA Cup because of the teams left at the end……how wrong i am! All teams fielded their strongest teams in the Mickey Mouse cup and ignored the FA Cup. “Brendan” your statement has no credibility - it doesn’t actually mean anything
May 30th, 2008 at 13:22
team deveopment ye spend no money even at highbury so dont make that an excuse…..what about yer super reserve team
May 30th, 2008 at 13:26
Well it actually means that although the Carling Cup is quite rightly the lowest of all the competitions to the big four it cannot be described as mickey mouse in an attempt to devalue our win - especially as this season the last 8 were made up of quality sides. And the comparison to the FA Cup was just used to add weight to the Argument, would you describe this seasons FA Cup to be Mickey Mouse?
May 30th, 2008 at 13:35
When Middlesborough won the Carling Cup in 2004, did they even attempt to brag at Newcastle fans? Unlikely. When Blackburn beat sp*rs do you think they even thought about laughing at their local big team Man Utd? Do you not understand that the Carling Cup is meaningless to us? If for some reason the LDV Vans trophy involved all 92 clubs and West Ham won it, would you not laugh at them in the event that their fans bragged at sp*rs fans? You have no bragging rights, you beat us once in a decade! ONCE!!! We did the league double over you, the games that really count we win. Please don’t call us ignorant and lacking in constructive arguments. Just think about it ffs!
May 30th, 2008 at 13:45
Bostock is every bit as good as Walcott if in fact not far better. I don’t remember Barca sniffing round him do you? It shows you how far we’ve come that young stars won’t to join above earning silly cash at Chelski
May 30th, 2008 at 13:50
I can’t agree more the Carling Cup is the lowest on anyone’s list of priorities I should think, as I said before its just a stick to beat you with. As for only beating you once in a decade, although true please just let us have our moment, it will only last until the next league game, unless we beat you again of course.
May 30th, 2008 at 13:50
la sagna you wanted to win it just that you’re arrogant manager thought jol was still in charge and left players out,man city wanted to win it when we beat them away and chelsea def wanted to win it in the final. if we get you in the semi next year i’d bet any money wenger wouldn’t do it again..why ? coz he knows its better than winning nothing thats why! your argument would hold some water if you’d went on to win any of the “bigger” trophy’s but guess what the FACT is you didn’t AGAIN! your manager is the only one out of “the top 4″ that gets away with not winning ANYTHING for so long.not one of us is saying we will break the top 4 but weve got more chance with Ramos and we aint been far off it in the recent past,so wind your neck in you condescending ar**hole and crawl back under ya rock, mug!
May 30th, 2008 at 13:58
brendan-don’t be kidded by that idiot if the shoe was on the other foot the first thing he would say is “least we won something, when was the last time spuds did blah blah….” he’s like a little child”we didn’t want it anyway” rubbish, thats why they had players fighting eachother on the pitch and there manager had a face like thunder and couldn’t even admit we were the better side after losing 5-1, he knew he’d made a massive rick and he won’t underestimate Ramos’s spurs again like the idiot posting on here.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:07
of course we wanted to win it! what an idiot! who goes out to lose a game? listen, kid, YOUR argument would hold any weight if you had EVER won one of the bigger trophies. If you think it’s SO bad that we didn’t win again, how ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING does that make you for all the years of no-silverware you have had?
Brendan, fair play to you.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:10
Mate believe me, I ain’t kidded into anything, reality is yes the Carling Cup is the lowest on the priority list of things we want to win, but the truth is they couldn’t even win that so there we have it.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:19
“kid”?like i said condescending ars***e!are you saying we have never won any major trophy’s?idiot.i don’t think its bad that you didn’t win anything again ,obviously i think its good ,tool.”Do you not understand that the Carling Cup is meaningless to us? ” didn’t seem meaningless to your 2 players havin a punch up though! your whole argument was about devaluing the league cup and how you had bigger fish to fry, well maybe, but the trouble is they all jumped out the pan and you fried nothing.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:21
spot on brendan, thats the fact of the matter anything else he says is just guff mate
May 30th, 2008 at 14:22
IF WE WAS YER LOSEST WHY DID WENGER BRING ON ADEY AN CESC FOR A MEANINGLESS CUP AN RISK THEM GETTIN INJURED FOR YERSO CALLED CL MATCHES…..IT IS 4TH CUP IN PL BUT STILL PLAYERS LIKE TO WIN SILVERWARE.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:24
coys-especially in the first final at new wembley
May 30th, 2008 at 14:25
our season started of badly fair enough so our main aim was to get into europe an we done it, arse aim was to win league 8 points up an lost it knocked dout of CL an also rested players for the fa cup, who are the reawll fools
May 30th, 2008 at 14:27
I am loving the banter on here today, has made a boring Friday whizz past. Cheers guys. COYS.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:27
shh, you’re too easy to wind up. 61 and never again…don’t worry though, next season will SURELY be the year you finally finish above the mighty Gunners (you’ll need over 80 points to manage it so best of luck chap). ‘he’s like a little child’ - thus negating everything you just said
May 30th, 2008 at 14:32
See that’s where you’re missing the point La Sagna, who on here has said that we will finish 4th? You’re winding yourself up mate.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:34
oh you just winding us up now then? oh and of course yes that comment negated everything i said, you just clarified it “kid”!you really are a mug mate,no-one was saying we would finish above you,why digress from the points we were talking about or are you out of things to say ?no change there library boy sshhhhhhh
May 30th, 2008 at 14:35
so basically, Arsenal aim high, Spurs aim low? Does that not sum it all up?
May 30th, 2008 at 14:38
Mate you have just completely contradicated yourself, slagging us off for ‘claiming’ we are going to break the top 4 - then in the next breath slating us for not having ambition because we didn’t actually say we would finish in the CL places. Sorry La Sagna think you’re typing yourself into a corner.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:41
Arsenal Fan Here.
I believe that Spurs will improve next season under Juande Ramos and the list of quality signings. They have a good atmosphere and have a good stadium but I still think that they will get 5th spot maximum next season. But if any club are going to break the top4, i believe that it will be spurs.
They believe in the same theory every year that they will finish above Arsenal every season. Even though we didn’t come 4th this season, they still believe that they can overtake us. They get the same answer every year. That’s what annoys me.
We still consider this season a bad season even though at the start many critics didn’t believe us to reach the top 4. Then suddenly, they still it a bad season. Arsenal are a young squad improving and Wenger has promised signings.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:45
There was an interview the other day with Jenas saying next season you will finish higher etc etc. As a Sp*rs player he represents the ambitions of the club. YOU are the ones now saying you wont finish 4th. You are the ones making the contradictions amongst yourselves. To those who say they are going to break the top four I say you wont (you know it, we all know it), and to those saying you know you wont break the top four I say that that in itself demonstrates the gulf between the two clubs
May 30th, 2008 at 14:53
We are replying and responding the comments on here not what players and managers have said, Tottenham have the capabilities of finishing 4th but we will have to wait and see whether or not our investments this summer will come to fruition and get us to the top four or land another major trophy. Just to go back to a point made earlier I would sooner win a major trophy every season than finish 4th every year and win nothing including the so-called Champions League, who remembers the team who finishes 4th at the end of the day. Yes to play in the Champions League would bring financial rewards but to win a trophy means a lot more to me. Just my opinion. Obviously in an ideal world I would love both things to happen.
May 30th, 2008 at 14:58
I agree with you to some extent Brendan but a one-hit wonder Carling cup victory that merely masks the fact you had a shocking league season (the worst for a long time) does not fall into that category of events
May 30th, 2008 at 15:07
Totally mate, I have said on more than one occasion that the Carling Cup win did paper over some pretty alarming cracks. Some of these cracks are going to be repaired in the summer with the imminent arrival Richard Dunne and Woodgate previously, going some way to ease the GA record which was shocking. But consistentcy is what we are looking for, we don’t lack ambition as a fan base and a top four finish would be fantastic at whoevers expense. But us Spurs fans have seen more false dawns than I care to remember (and I’m only 23) so I think you can accuse us of being sceptical but never of lacking ambition.
May 30th, 2008 at 15:16
All the Spuds go on about is how their gonna do this or that, truth is they won the youth cup with three handles and missed out on CL football by the skin of their teeth a nailbiting 30 points away.
Arsenal have a manager who it seems was destined to be Manager his name Arsene.
Spuds have a manager that seems was destined to be their boss … Juande. Juande we will be as good as Arsenal, but not in any of our lifetimes.
May 30th, 2008 at 15:18
I think they are both topyoung players but easier for Nasri to fit in with our style and french players + manager. Not sure what Dos Santos will bring to spurs to be honest as you need strength in midfield not more luxury players!
May 30th, 2008 at 15:23
Yeah you’re probably right there, but having flair and creativity in the team can never be a bad thing. Think if we can source Diarra in from Pompey in exhange for Kabout and some cash would be a good deal.
May 30th, 2008 at 15:28
dos santos is going to chelsea
May 30th, 2008 at 15:29
oh really where does it say that?
May 30th, 2008 at 15:36
always destined to be your manager with a name like arse you’re right!
May 30th, 2008 at 15:37
I completely ignored rosey, yid4life, dont bite the bait.
May 30th, 2008 at 15:51
Personally, I think both Nasri and Dos Santos are vastly over-rated.
Neither will be half as good as the media have hyped them to be.
One thing is for sure though…Luka Modric is twice the player that Samir Nasri AND Giovanni Dos Santos are.
He is the real star buy of the transfer window IMO.
Will set the Prem alight.
May 30th, 2008 at 15:55
brendan- lol they don’t wind me up mate i’m always prepared for the mugs and not just behind a keyboard! it takes a certain person to be a goon i have found,i mean you have the ones that started supporting them through the graham era and just like that team they are dull, uninspiring and boring, then you have the ones that started in the wenger era and they pretend they are french, smell of onions, can’t see anyone elses point of view and are arrogant, then you have the ones that just fancied Perry Groves!one thing is constant though they are all c**ts. They always have condescending attitudes like matey before, pretend they are winding us up ,but leave the ones wound up lol, still i suppose they can just go home and take it out on their boyfriends.
May 30th, 2008 at 16:01
yid4life - one word mate, class.
May 30th, 2008 at 16:55
Dos Santos were not join spurs (too bad)
May 30th, 2008 at 16:58
Looks like GDS won’t be coming to you guys, he openly claimed that he would like to play for Chelsea and personally I don’t want a player that openly states he wants to play at another club but instead joins Arsenal because I’d seriously doubt his commitment to the club.
But you guys have Modric will be crackin for you guys and you guys have to admit that Nasri is an excellent player and that if things go the way it should he would be a perfect fit in the Gunners line-up.
Spurs will improve next season under Ramos but I don’t see them breaking into the top 4.
May 30th, 2008 at 17:15
The key point is of course that Spurs won’t sign him, so it’s a moot point.
He can be added to when they almost signed Rivaldo, Eto’o, etc.
May 30th, 2008 at 19:41
We gonna sign Dos santos, we’re gonna break into the top 4………..LOL
May 30th, 2008 at 19:52
gunner an what will ye do next season when ye win nothing????????
May 30th, 2008 at 20:09
forget dos santos we have carlos vela he cost us 2mill and hes ahead of dos santos in the mexican national team already.
vela is the real star not dos santos once again the spuds get it wrong
does anyone think that if dos santos was that good that barca would let him go? hes been trouble and is flaky when playing.
vela has had rave reviews playing for ossasuna a whole season dos santos has been on the bench for most of the season.
there is no point in comparing him to nasri who is way better then dos santos.
besides if dos santos was any good he would have gone to a top team not spuds.
May 30th, 2008 at 21:25
the poots figures as such, spuds not really a concern with or without dos santos or eto’o or dunne still a few years off being able to oust liverpool for a top 4 more like breaking top seven again should really be the ambition there and as for the carling cup it is a most deserved win for ya and it is an important trophy no matter what people say ,even me gooners whos point ya all missing .the carling cup to teams like arsenal, manure n chelski is equal to winning a 10 cent lottery …sure its nice to win but the focus is the million dollar lottos baby and the perhaps the fa cup . anyhow ya you won and it has been sometime hasn’t it since ya could gloat well strut your stuff spuds good on ya
May 30th, 2008 at 23:25
I would’ve thought both players would want to play Champions League football. Can’t see GDS signing for a team to play in the UEFA Cup. Is that what it’s called these days?
Also, Arsenal haven’t won a trophy in 3 years.. HAHA! You’re rubbish Arsenal. What have you ever done in the last 100 years.
May 31st, 2008 at 02:28
I think you lot should be more proud of the Modric signing than GDS. Lots of clubs wanted Modric and you got him, raving about a Barca reject sends out the wrong impression. You lot have the money to buy pretty much anyone you need, your the richest club without champions league football. With a few quality signings you could do it, the trouble is you need to hope they settle in quickly and done implode like Man City did this year. To be honest my bet is on Everton to break into the top four next year. They have a consistent manager in Moyes, a strong quality squad now and have shown consistency over the last few years. If you lot can hold onto Ramos for long enough then i think in a few years you will be up there contending. You will finish higher than 11th next year, probably between 6th-9th, anything higher would be a huge achievement i feel. I understand you got fifth before this year, i just feel this season threw a spanner in the works slightly and with teams like Aston Villa and Everton in a slightly stronger position, it might be difficult to achieve straight away.
June 2nd, 2008 at 15:46
Hello all you arsewipes. Hope you`ve all got your celebratory cup winners mugs and quartz watches. they will become such collectors items in future that even I was tempted - almost. Well here we are again and another spuds spending spree. Will it be £40-50m this time, and how many of them will turn out to be overpriced duds like Darren Bent? The best of it is that there will be another 3 or 4 worldbeaters coming in, which Levy will insist play from the start. None of this silly Arsene Wenger nonsense of acclimatisation by careful introduction. Of course, team shape will suffer along with performances, but hey, with a good run in you could still get close to Arsenal`s, sorry Liverpool`s, fourth spot.
June 10th, 2008 at 21:09
Nasri - Quality, older, more international and club apps. - more expensive.
Dos Santos - Quality, younger, less international and club apps. - less expensive.
The pole states 562 votes for Samir Nasri and 563 votes for Giovani Dos Santos - I think they’re pretty even but Dos Santos is less proven as he is younger and hence he cost Spurs less, while Nasri is more proven so will cost Arsenal more - its simple logic really.
June 10th, 2008 at 21:18
Nasri and Dos Santos both have to step it up, and let us not forget this is the Premier League. £30 m Veron failed and Dion Dublin was once top scorer… Anything can happen with signings and players.
The smart money is on that new Liverpool right back, Degen. Sounds beastly.
June 10th, 2008 at 21:24
Yeah, it’s true Sakildo (sexy name by the way) Papa Bouba Diop was once linked with Arsenal for £15m - £3m more than Nasri… they did always say Wenger could find the best talents.
July 6th, 2008 at 08:55
I theink that both nasri and dos santos shud go to the greatest team on planet earth! CHELSKI!!! imagine 10 years in the future the best players in the world
3rd rooney-chelsea
2nd dos santos-chelsea
1st nasri-chelsea
all three of these players shud be at chelski because they either are or will be world class players and chelski is a world class team!
