Klaas Jan Huntelaar & Roman Pavlyuchenko Targeted by Manchester United: Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City & Everton Also in Hunt!
Manchester United are reportedly tracking two cheaper striking alternatives to Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov this summer in the shape of Ajax’s Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Spartak Moscow’s Roman Pavlyuchenko. However, they are not the only Premier League club admiring this pair with Spurs, Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool and Chelsea all in the hunt.
Pavlyuchenko may not have drawn as much attention as Arshavin in the run up to Euro 2008 but his stock his risen dramatically following some superb displays at the tournament. The 26-year-old has a total of 67 goals in 135 League appearances for his club side Spartak Moscow. He’s also finished top scorer domestically for the past 2 seasons. He’s scored more goals than the £18M rated Brazilian Jo but would reportedly cost far less. The Spartak forward scored against Sweden, Spain and Holland at Euro 2008 and has a record of 9 goals in 22 appearances at international level. This includes 2 goals in the European qualifying win over England.
Unlike Pavlyuchenko, most of Europe has been aware of Klaas Jan Huntelaar’s talent for a number of seasons. Despite possessing an incredibly prolific scoring record, he remains in Holland playing for Ajax. The 24-year-old has been linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe but as of yet none have been able to secure his services.
Huntelaar’s scoring record is second to none and he possesses the ability to score all types of goals from headers to free-kicks. With the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, United, Everton etc currently scouring the planet for new strikers one of the best remains playing week in, week out in the backwater of the Dutch League. A quick look at his goals per game ratio surely singles out the young Ajax striker as worth a gamble. After all, last season alone he’s scored 34 League goals in 34 matches and only one of those goals was from the penalty spot. Once again this figure topped the Dutch scoring charts, a staggering 12 goals more than his nearest rival.
Since joining Ajax midway through the 2005/06 season the Drempt-born hitman has scored a staggering 71 goals in 82 League games. This Roy of the Rovers style scoring shouldn’t have been unexpected given the players striking tally at Heerenveen prior to moving to Amsterdam. In just a season and a half Huntelaar scored 34 goals in just 46 League matches which prompted Ajax to quickly pounce. His career League record now reads 131 goals in 173 League appearances, now if that type of form is not worth a punt then I don’t know what is!
The young Dutch sensation has banished fears that he couldn’t perform on the international stage after continuing his scoring form for the Oranje netting 8 goals in just 13 games as he competes with the likes of Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Robin Van Persie for a starting berth. Huntelaar is also something of a lucky charm for Holland as they’ve won all 13 matches he’s featured in.
When you’ve topped the Dutch scoring charts in 2 of the last 3 seasons, won numerous player of the year awards, finished top scorer in the world in 2005/06 as well as rewriting the record books as all-time highest U21 scorer in Dutch history, you’d expect to have the best clubs in the world after you. However, as of yet Huntelaar remains in the Dutch League, the question that remains is for how long?
So which of these players would you like your club to sign? Which one do you rate as the best potential signing from what you’ve seen of them or would you prefer a different player? Let’s hear your views.

If we do sell Berbs, Keane and Bent, why not these 2? Both class and decent age too and we would still have cash left over!

Much cheaper alternative to Berbatov and both work far harder…i would go for Huntelaar as he has great experience and always looks a class act

I can’t believe it.
The one area that has worked well @Spurs has been the attack.
We are going from 4 tried and tested Prem strikers to None.
Cant be allowed to happen.

red Devil, you seem to forget you’re a selling club and Real Madrid’s feeder club. How do you suppose you will be buying players of this class with your £780m debt. Futures blue my friend. We might lend you Bianchi.

I think Roman’s style of play would suit Torres better than Hunts… however both would strengthen Liverpool’s team but I really do believe Liverpool will sign Keano!

I cannot see us getting Huntelaar as he in my opinion would cost too much and I think is heading off to Manchester United.
However Pavlyuchenko is within Everton’s reach although we do not need him.
Tottenham are just a selling club going nowhere but back where they belong in midtable so they have no chance either.

I hope we go in for Huntelaar he’s Klass! Him and Van Persie could smash it up together!
Blueste, whilst i dont particularly like the red devils either, have you ever heard that expression about people in glass houses? Your precious blues are strapped to the eyeballs in debt to one man, so you best pray that he doesn’t one day decide he’s bored of his plaything, which given the way you play may not be to far away…hey that rhymes lol!

haha at u lil spurs thinking u will make big signings and have success next year.
As for klass-jan huntelaar. That boy is phenominal and his goal scoring record shows it. He is pure KLASS and deserves to be playing for a pure football genius with arsene wenger and his style and class should be playing at the emirates as our style of football suits him much more than those silly idiots at white hart lane. what a waste it would be to go to the lane and win nothing with juande the homo.
ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those supporters of megarich Everton make me laugh. Tottenham are the 11th richest club in the world while good old Bill Kenright thinks more of NuLabour than his own club. How embarrassing is it when your chairman spends more of his own money on supporting Gordon Brown. Selling club? Didn’t Everton sell the one diamond they have discovered, Rooney to manU? Oh that not selling as you have to have more than one player worth selling to be a selling club do you?? Sorry I missed it but what recent trophies have Everton won?? Answers on a ball point pen tip please…

i’m not sure where that info is coming from but on last years figures tottenham didn’t even feature in the top 25 richest clubs in europe. ye may have a rich chairman but that does not constitute value of a club. as they say 95% of statistics are made up on the spot. Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton are the only english teams in the top 25

Can`t believe that spurs fans have the nerve to question our sucess we have finished in and around the top 6 for the past 4 seasons (one fourth placed finish while spending peanuts i may add) can`t seem to recall you mob finising fourth in the last 2 or 3 decades? And by the way a couple of 3rd rate cups in a few years don`t do nothin for me if you hadn`t won the drink cup you wouldn`t even be in europe. One more thing elland road 3 parts of the ground outsung outplayed outclassed 95 4-1 i think!!!! sorry spurs but gone are the days the year ending in a 1 is YOUR year you make me laff ha ha ha
