BLACKBURN v CHELSEA - MORE BLUES FOR BLACKBURN?

Mark HughesMark Hughes must be one confused manager, one minute his Blackburn side are on a 5-match winning run and tipped to be contenders for the top four, the next they are being thrashed by Premier League powerhouses Villa and Wigan. Throw in a home defeat to an Arsenal reserve side in the Carling Cup and life at Ewood Park has took a definite turn for the worse. Next up is the wounded lion that is Chelsea, still smarting from their narrow defeat at the Emirates last weekend. Not the ideal fixture for Sparky when you consider that Rovers have only beaten the Blues once in the last 9 meetings between the clubs. Their record does not improve at Ewood Park with Chelsea losing just once in their last 7 visits.

The Blues loss at Arsenal last weekend ended a superb run of 10 League matches without defeat. Only a rare mistake from Petr Cech ended a superb defensive run of 5 matches without conceding. Chelsea will be without their captain John Terry for up to 6 weeks but defensively should still be strong enough to deal with Rovers with Tal Ben Haim and Alex likely to deputise.

Blackburn’s confidence has taken one hell of a beating in recent weeks with 18 goals conceded in their last 7 matches alone. However, One player full of confidence is Paraguayan Roque Santa Cruz who has scored 5 goals in a week and still been on the losing side twice. Expect Rovers to struggle to raise their game for the visit of the Chelsea machine so back the away side to get back to winning ways on Premier 10.

TOP TIP: The Chelsea title chase to start again (away win)
