David Moyes faces a stern test of his Everton team’s potential when he faces the side they historically struggle against Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend. In the 15-year history of the Premier League, the Toffees have won just 3 games against United and lost a mere 24 times so the omens don’t exactly look good. The Everton record at Old Trafford is particularly poor with no win at the Theatre of Dreams since 1992. That season Peter Beardsley, Robert Warzycha and Mo Johnston were the scorers in a 3-0 win. It was the year Apartheid ended in South Africa, Betty Boothroyd became the first female speaker in the House of Commons and the British pair Linford Christie and Sally Gunnell won Olympic gold in Barcelona. Everton fans travelling to the game should dust off their audiotapes of Snap’s ‘Rhythm is a dancer’ to get in the mood as this was number one on that historic day.
However, this is arguably Everton’s strongest side for many years and they are currently the form side of the division so they won’t fear this trip. Moyes’ side are seven matches unbeaten and not conceded a League goal in 5 hours and 15 minutes. Something tells me that record will be seriously under threat from Ronaldo, Rooney and co. The Toffees also boast the League’s form striker in the shape of the Nigerian Yakubu who has scored 8 goals in his last 7 Premier League appearances. However, he has never scored against United at Old Trafford so don’t expect Ferdinand and Vidic to lose any sleep over facing him.
United wont exactly be lacking any confidence themselves after three straight wins including their customary win at Anfield last weekend. They also boast the best home defensive record in the division so will be confident of taming Everton’s attacking threat. It is hard to back against Fergie’s side on Premier 10 but it is well worth covering yourself with the draw too as this Toffees team certainly has some bite to it.
TOP TIP: Red Devils bite into the Toffees (home win)

This is the year we finally get a win at O.T. Arteta and Cahill will run riot and when they feed the YAK he will score!!!!
The Champions League beckons next year for the boys, watch out Reds the pride of Merseyside are back!
