SUNDERLAND v MANCHESTER UTD - NO PRESENTS FROM UNITED TO OLD BOY ROY?
Sir Alex Ferguson comes face to face with Roy Keane on Boxing Day aiming to push his young protégé further into the relegation mire. Well that’s gratitude for you, after all Keane did help United plunder 7 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups and a Champions League trophy in 12 happy years together.
Keane is not the type of man to fear an opponent and Sunderland were hardly thrashed in a visit to Old Trafford earlier this season. However, that 1-0 defeat back in September was against a very different United side. The Red Devils were struggling for goals and that cannot be said now with 23 goals scored in their last 9 games.
The Black Cats have won just once in their last 12 League games and that was against bottom side Derby so don’t expect them to win all 3 points against this United side. After all, Sunderland have not beaten United in the last 11 meetings between these clubs with the Red Devils winning 8 of those games.
United are living up to Fergie’s pre-Christmas predictions that this is the period when his side usually rack up the points and after 3 straight wins he is not too far wrong is he. You have got to expect united to continue that run on Premier 10 and Ferguson certainly won’t be doing his former captain any favours and I’m sure Keane would have it no other way.
