CHARLTON v WEST BROM - BAGGIES BOUNCE INTO THE 4TH ROUND?
Only 7 points separates these two sides in the Championship table as the Baggies currently sit top and Charlton fifth. However, form-wise it is West Brom who are the current pace setters whilst the Addicks have failed to win in 5 games, which includes a 4-2 defeat at the Hawthorns a few weeks ago back in mid-December.
The Baggies may be top of the Championship but they are certainly not running away with the title as 3 defeats in their last 7 matches suggests. They have also lost their last 2 matches on the road, albeit against strong Championship sides Stoke and Ipswich. However they do boast the division’s top scorer in the shape of evergreen Kevin Phillips who has scored 15 League goals this season. His goal tally is even more impressive when you consider that super Kev has played just 17 games mainly due to injury. He has already scored against the Addicks this season so don’t bet against him doing the same again at the weekend, after all the Baggies are the top scorers in all 4 divisions this season.
Alan Pardew’s Charlton side are not in form and have a real problem getting results at the Valley where they have picked up just 2 wins in their last 9 matches (5 defeats). This poor home run includes defeat against 2nd from bottom Colchester in their last match. So back the Baggies to win on Premier 10 as Pardew’s Valley of woes deepens.
