Coventry v West Brom - Sky Blues Sunk by Bouncing Baggies?
The two League meetings between these two sides this season have been high scoring affairs with 10 goals scored. The Baggies won 4-0 at the Ricoh Arena in November but surprisingly lost 4-2 at home just a month later. However, things aren’t looking so good for the Sky Blues after the dismissal of their manager Iain Dowie and they’ve dropped to a perilous 19th in the Championship.
The Baggies have dropped down to 4th in the League after successive away defeats at Preston and Barnsley. They’ve only picked up 2 wins in their last 7 games (2 defeats) so aren’t in the form they were when topping the League. West Brom have actually lost 4 of their last 7 away trips so will not enter this match full of confidence.
Coventry sacked their manager after a League run of 1 win in 7 games (5 defeats). However, Dowie did lead them to FA Cup wins over Blackburn and Millwall in that period. They’ve only been beaten once in their last 5 games at the Ricoh Arena, which includes 3 wins so, are not struggling as much as you may think.
Goal scoring has been a major problem of late for the Sky Blues who’ve only managed to score in one of the last 4 games. It’s been 10 years since they last made the 6th round but its been only 6 years for West Brom. Neither side is in great form but back the Baggies to bounce back to form with a win as they possess a far stronger squad and it will be difficult for manager-less Coventry to contain them and to actually score themselves.
