The Pools Poll: Will Newcastle Axe their Messiah?
It’s all well and good being honest but when it comes to honesty and football, there are certain lines that you just don’t cross. But Newcastle’s Kevin Keegan - never one to hold his tongue - once again appears completely oblivious to such lines.
For those of you unsure about what I’m talking about, allow me to refresh. During his post match interview, following Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea, Keegan basically said that there was no way Newcastle can ever break into the top four and the best the club can hope for is fifth.
“The top four next year will be the same top four as this year. We’re a million miles away from challenging for the league but if my owner backs me we want to try and finish fifth and top the other mini-league.”
Regardless to how true his words may be, I doubt saying such things out loud will be far from his smartest move. And bearing in mind, Newcastle axed Allardyce for failing to live up to the club’s high expectations, I’m asking…

How about another option on the poll; yes he was right to say it and it’s what everyone who supports Newcastle thinks anyway?
just because Sky always pick a couply of urchins smashed out of their brains on fizzy alco-pops to sing Kevin’s name and say that we are going to win the league doesn’t mean we all think that.
Same as every other club, we accept that the EPL is divided into a number of mini leagues and at the moment we aren’t even challenging the second of those leagues, nevermind the top one.
It’s just more lazy journalism, creating a sensationalist story out of nothing.

what a poll that was, always making newcastle seem like a sham, you really do enjoy this, was there any option in that poll for simply YES or NO. THERE WASNT you are ramming words down our throats

I’d disagree that the poll is a sham it’s actually asking a valid question. I’m a Manchester City fan and Keegans honesty was refreshing at first however it quickly became irritating. He’s always going on about positivity but what type of message is he sending out with a statement that Newcastle are never going to break into the top four? It might be true but its hardly motivating is it. More revealing was his statement that the bigger clubs are going to poach his players. So i reckon thats Martins to Arsenal and Owen to Man City then!

Lol, this is a joke right? For starters you’ve polling on something incorrectly - Keegan didn’t say there was no way Newcastle break in to the top four ‘ever’, he just said next season. Let’s be honest, he’s being realistic, there IS a vast gulf between the top four and anyone else at present, Kev knows it, the Newcastle fans know it and so does the owner. Keegan’s not going to get the boot or any reprimand for stating the obvious, stop trying to stir things up that aren’t there.

Wow! What a brilliant unbiased poll…NOT!
What choice would you like, negative, negative, negative or negative.
Absolutely pathetic.
