Reports of a cheeky £40million bid from Chelsea are not totally unexpected following the super Spaniard’s superb debut season for Liverpool. The 22-year-old has scored a staggering 24 League goals in 33 League games (29 starts) after signing from Atletico Madrid in the summer. A few eyebrows were raised when Rafa Benitez signed him for £21.5million but he’s proved himself to be an absolute steal as without his goals the Reds may have struggled to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Torres’ goal at Tottenham on the last day of the season allowed him to break Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s 2001/02 record for most goals scored by an overseas player in his first season in the Premier League. He has been a breath of fresh air to the English top flight with his hard working attitude (Berbatov take note), pace and finishing ability and has replaced Thierry Henry as arguably the best striker to watch in England.
Would Liverpool consider selling their prize asset to Chelsea after the season he’s had? I doubt it. If anything the 22-year-old will only get better next season especially if the Reds can sign some quality wingers who could provide the deadly hitman with the sort of service he’d crave. So why would Rafa therefore sell him to a major rival?
Despite a trophy-less season, the 2007/08 campaign could still go down as a momentous one for Liverpool fans as the season a long-haired Spaniard by the name of Fernando Torres arrived to become the Kop’s newest hero. Does anyone actually believe Liverpool would even contemplate selling their striking star or can Torres can go onto better his incredible debut tally next season in the famous red shirt and prove himself to be the best striker in the Premier League?
Let’s hear your comments

Torres ain’t going anywhere. Rafa would be a fool to get rid of him. Bet Ruud is gutted!
who?
Torres is the best ever. The best finisher all over the world.
He scored the same amount of goals as Emmanunel Adebayor who is an all-round better player, good in the air, links the play and most importantly of all can score away from home!
Adebayor can score if u give him the ball in front of the net and if u clear the entire defence and it would be convenient if the goalie was not there andif the post covered the breadth of the field dude.and his first touch is hopeless and comparing him with Torres is like comparing Derby County(current team) with Arsenal.
Adebayor the best finisher, hmm, anyone remember the Champions League Arsenal V Liverpool match 2nd Leg, where Mr. Adebayor was practically through on goal and still managed to put it wide. I think Stephen Hawkins may have done better given that chance on goal!!!
