The Daniel Alves will he, won’t he leave Sevilla saga looks set to finally end this summer as the player has spoken of his desire to leave. There is no shortage of suitors for the Brazilian international full-back from the biggest clubs in the world. Both of the Spanish giants are said to be interested though it’s Barcelona who’ve stolen a march on their rivals by making a firm bid. Waiting in the wings is a host of Premier League clubs with Chelsea, United and Liverpool heading the queue.
The Stamford Bridge billionaires had a bid turned down during the January transfer window and have since signed Porto’s Jose Bosingwa so may no longer be interested but Liverpool and United may still back up their interest with hard cash. Both these sides are looking to strengthen their right full-back positions as the Reds have seen Steve Finnan, Alvaro Arbeloa and of late Jamie Carragher hardly excel in that role. The Red Devils on the other hand have played almost an entire season without their captain Gary Neville as Wes Brown has deputised admirably in his absence. However, with the long-term doubts over Neville’s fitness and Brown’s lack of attacking qualities Alves would be the perfect signing.
The Sevilla man has reached double figures in Brazilian caps and aged 25 is the natural successor to the legendary figure of Cafu. He has won 2 Uefa Cups, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 1 Copa Del Rey and1 European Super Cup in his short time with the Seville-based club all under Spurs boss Juande Ramos. He was also voted the Uefa Cup’s most valuable player as well as the Uefa Super Cup’s most valuable player in 2006. Alves was also part of the Brazilian side that won the 2007 Copa America so comes with a real winning pedigree.
He doesn’t require a work permit after receiving a dual nationality passport following 6 years in Spain. However, he wouldn’t come cheap but he is a proven quality international star and would be a real coup for any Premier League club.
So would you like to see Alves flying down the right-flank at your club or do you feel he is destined to join one of the Spanish giants? Let’s hear your views.

Forget those clubs, would’ve love to have seen Alves at the Lane though Alan Hutton looks a class act. I think United should break the bank to sign him and they would be more or less unstoppable.
If we sign him United will dominate even more than they do now, imagine him and Evra attacking from full-back it is frightening, Liverpool will need to wait another 20 years to win the title, after all, they are no better than Sevilla so why would he go there??
Johnny B your spot on! but I tell you one thing, it’s not your team that won the league titles but the ammount of times you bought the refs and the Fa that won you titles! Ask that Ref Bennett and he will tell you, he
should be taken to court and interrogated! As for Danny Alvez he should come To Liverpool if he wants to play for the best team but if it’s for the money than he should go to MAN U! Sir Alex has a huge big red nose for a reason you know he is a……………!!!
What a typical insecure manc reply. Couldnt even make a comment on the possible signing of a player without having a dig at Liverpool.
Another one who thing football was invented in 1994.
Forever in our shadow
Well put Frank Mac!
Dani Alves is a great player however is definitely a better right midfielder than right back as his defending is dodgy to say the least. He’d be an asset to any team however if there’s one team of the 4 mentioned above, and it could be any team in Europe (well if you’ve got £20m that is)i’d say Barca…however could i throw in ridiculous cost / great going forward / dodgy defender – step forward Kevin Keegan?
How much dosh do United have to spend? First and foremost is the need for a striker, then a right back and a young hard midfielder. I love this big kid Veloso as a true successor to Bryan Robson and Keano. It would be fantastic if Gill could persuade Sevilla to let both Daní Alves and Luis Fabiano go, of course. All the better to throw in Saha in part-exchange. Miguel looks decent, but he’s nowhere near as spectacular as Alves: If we want spectacular, that is. Huntelaar is the streakiest striker. I just don’t think he’s got the consistent goods. He’s slow, too, like Ashton and Berbatov. If Fabiano is a no-go, I think the club should gamble on Marcello Moreno and give a shot to Wellbeck and Campbell. Can’t see Alves with Liverpool, Kuyt would be tripping over his todger in a state of confusion just getting out of his way. Let’s hope he doesn’t set his heart on a move to Barca.
oh well – looks like the free signing of Degan by Liverpool takes Liverpool out of the equation…
