Who Was Your Euro 2008 Player of the Tournament? Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Aston Villa, Man City, Blackburn, West Ham, Tottenham, Newcastle & Sunderland fans have your say!
Spanish midfield playmaker Xavi won the award for being the player player of Euro 2008 following his countries convincing 1-0 win over the Germans on Sunday night.
The 28-year-old Barcelona star as with most the Spanish squad had a superb tournament though many would argue that in fact there was a number of players who could have quite easily won the award.
Even Xavi’s team-mate David Villa had good reason to feel hard done by the decision as he finished top scorer in the competition whilst Cesc Fabregas enhanced his reputation despite having to play a bit-part role.
The Russian pair of Roman Pavlyuchenko and Andrei Arshavin both also performed superby to lead their team to the semi-finals. Then there’s Tottenham’s new signing Luka Modric who performed superbly before Croatia’s unfortunate penalty shopot-out defeat to Turkey.
Germany’s young Bayern Munich pair of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lukas Podolski also performed valiantly as they reached the final despite struggling to get games for their club side last season.
So would you have chosen as Euro 2008’s star man or do you feel the organisers got it right?

Luka Modric impressed me most, he was outstanding, followed by Arshavin and then Villa

Modric…Ha!..Only a spudlet would think (if that’s the correct term for what goes on in their heads?) that, yawn!..
Shaaarvi, as motson calls him, no!
Iniesta, no left foot!..Reminds me of joke hole for pingland…errrr!..
…Well that was a ‘happy meal’ (feast, not!) of football!

so biased answers, iker casillias was clearly the best, with fellow spaniard senna close second with pavlyuchenko third

for me Villa - shame he peaked early and got injured. but Senna and Altinop were both awsome DMC’s and Xavi and Inesta both played really well goin for ward.
Couple of Russians - Pav/Arsha and Zhirkov
Pepe looked awsome taking the ball out of defence
Sneijder and Van Der Vaart both looked good as well.
Brilliant Tournament - in my opinion it was more enjoyable without england. and they didnt deserve to be there!

Those who voted for Fabregas must be Gooners. Come on, he had 1 good game against Russia, that’s it. He didn’t do anything else the entire tournament. For me, it has to be 1.Arshavin, 2.Senna, 3.Hamit Altintok of Turkey.
Has to be Arshavin because he transformed a workmanline Russian team into an entertaining and world class team and in the process stopping the seemingly invincible Holland.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, purely cos they got to the final on his contributions in my eyes, shining star in a team of average joe’s. I want him at City, wouldn’t he do a job on the right wing at £10m? A bit of a bargain, and looks like a Hughes sort of player (whatever that is).

Wesley Sneijder would have been my favourite if Holland got a bit further. To all the bias london jews out there modric is a poor mans Yossi!!!!!

Van der Saar was faultless in goal and pulled off some cracking saves.

I would definately say Modric, but then again I felt Croatia & Holland were the only decent teams in an otherwise boring tournament.
