The Sack Race: Which Premier League Manager Will Leave His Job First? Arsenal, Aston Villa, Blackburn, Bolton, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Hull, Liverpool, Man City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Stoke, Sunderland, Spurs, West Brom, West Ham & Wigan Fans Have Your Say!
Last season there were a number of Premier League managerial casualties early into the campaign with surprise departures such as Martin Jol, Billy Davies and even the ‘special one’ himself…Jose Mourinho.
This season the bookies had already decided on their favourites for the chop with Alan Curbishley tipped to be odds on to depart Upton Park first. However, after increasing speculation concerning behind the scenes rumours of Man City owner Thaksin Shinawatra attempting to sell players behind his newly appointed manager Mark Hughes back, it’s now Sparky who is 3/1 favourite to leave his role. Closely behind Sparky is the man who replaced him at Blackburn, Paul Ince. The self-styled ‘Guvnor’ has had to cope with losing two of the club’s key men in Brad Friedel and David Bentley as well as rumours of a so-called ‘player mutiny’ at Ewood Park.
Then there’s Everton miracle worker David Moyes who is growing increasingly frustrated with the club’s failure to land any new signings, not agreed a new contract and has endured a poor pre-season of embarrassing defeats and injuries. Thus he is now joint 3rd favourite with Curbishley.
Newcastle’s returning messiah Kevin Keegan is 5th favourite with many expecting his tempestuous relationship with owner Mike Ashley and Sporting Director Dennis Wise to end in tears. The three newly promoted sides also feature heavily amongst the favourites just like last season when Derby and Birmingham both jettisoned their managers early into what is usually a difficult campaign.
Then there’s the likes of newly appointed Luiz Felipe Scolari who no-one can be too sure how they’ll perform under the unique Premier League spotlight but is not one of the favourites to depart early.
So who do you think will leave their job first either through their own choice or being pushed? Which club do you think will give into the knee-jerk reaction of changing their manager at the first sign of trouble? Vote and let’s hear your views why.

Looks like Hughes is leading the way in the poll. How about Moyes at Everton, he’s in the same boat financially and the same frustrations? Or what about Beitez being first to take his strange facial hair and strop because he’s only been allowed to spend £35m (again) and needs those extra two players to make the difference (again)
My money is on Paul Ince, can a bloke with an ego that big win over the Blackburn team, particularly if they sell Santa Cruz and then get off to a bad start….
