Norwich v Birmingham: Blues Flying High as Canaries are Grounded?

All Smiles for Alex Again?High flying Birmingham were brought down to earth with a bump in midweek after crashing out of the Carling Cup at Southampton but Alex McLeish will be determined their 100% League winning run doesn’t come to an end at Carrow Road. After all, Glenn Roeder’s Norwich side are without a win this season in all competitions.

The Norfolk based club struggled last season and look set for another difficult season after picking up 2 points from a possible 9 available as well as losing to lower division MK Dons in the Carling Cup. However, they did secure a creditable 2-2 draw at FA Cup finalists Cardiff in their last match and are rested compared to Birmingham who played on Tuesday night.

They entertain a Blues side this weekend that has kept 2 clean-sheets in their 3 matches and boast a number of top strikers at Championship level so they may well struggle to contain them. This is especially the case for veteran Kevin Phillips who has scored in all 3 League games.

Footy 15 matchedThere has never been a 0-0 draw between these two sides in Norfolk and with Phillips, Cameron Jerome, Garry O’Connor, James McFadden and Marcus Bent at McLeish’s disposal it’s difficult not to see the away side scoring at least once. Especially as Norwich have yet to keep a clean-sheet in 4 League and Cup games this season. In fact, Birmingham have not had a goalless draw in their last 34 League games and Norwich 21 League games.

Don’t be surprised if Birmingham are awarded a penalty in this one as they’ve been the most fouled side in the Championship this season (51 times) whilst Norwich have already conceded 3 penalties. It all points to the Blues continuing their run of straight League wins so back them on Footy 15 this week.

Pundit’s Pick: Blues 100% Run Goes on (AWAY WIN)

  1. Danny Says:

Football is a funny old game…clearly the writer of this article hasn’t seen either team play this season, despite Norwich’s shocking season last year, this season they look a different proposition altogether…despite getting 2 points out of 9 Norwich have been the better side in all of the 3 Championship games by a clear mile…

If you did your research like editors should do you’ll know Norwich have dominated their games yet fail to score due to lack of fire power…

Anyway, the Blues 100% record is there to destroyed, so we’ll see how Saturdays game pans out.

Verdict on Pundit: Clearly lacks any footballing knowledge and has gone for the easy option!!

  2. Blues boy Says:

Dominated and did not win lol….He is spot on we will give the canaries another stuffing…don’t get upset because he predicted you get beat, 2 points out of 9 suggests you are not doing too well!

  3. Blues boy Says:

Verdict on Danny: Bitter and deluded though even he knows his boys will get beat!

  4. Nathan Says:

Danny your team may have dominated last week versus Cardiff but in the end it’s the taking of chances that will make or break a game. Norwich look a different team than last season? I’m afraid I don’t see it your players have spent most of their careers in League One or Two as well. Norwich City are not a ambitious club at all.

If the editor did his research well it seems to me that you can’t face the music. Also dominating a game is not a fact.

No our 100% league is not there to be destroyed and you are foolish to say so.

Verdict on Danny: A deluded Norwich City idiot.
