Dimitar Berbatov: Would a Move to Manchester United or Manchester City be the Best Move for the Bulgarian?

Dimitar Berbatov: Manchester Bound but Blue or Red?Reports today suggest Manchester City are set to rival Manchester United with a bid for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov. The Bulgarian has been a long-term target for Sir Alex Ferguson but after a public spat between the clubs the door has been opened for the former Bayer Leverkusen man to join his international team-mate and friend Martin Petrov at Eastlands.

Premier 10 matchedThe takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group has given Mark Hughes the funds he needs to make a big splash in the transfer market and beating cross city rivals United to their main target would be a huge signal of their intent.

So which move would be the better move for the striker? Would he better off joining a growing side like Man City where he would be one of the star men or a United side where he may not be a definite starter, particularly if he shows a similar attitude to the one he has shown at White Hart Lane this season?

Let’s hear your views.

  1. Citizen Smith Says:

time to show the reds who is boss in our city, SWP back now this…it is our time!

  2. Red Devil Says:

Its not your City and even if it was you still dont fill your stadium, even when in Europe, Your time, dont make me laugh

  3. yiddo Says:

Brilliant!!! i hope the sulky bulgarian goes to city, your welcome to him and we’ll take the £30mil the hard up champions of europe couldn’t pay.

  4. Craig Says:

Why would Berbatov go to City when he has been holding out for a move to Man Utd? It makes no sense. Sure City can make a bid but it is up to the player where he will go; and it will be Old Tarfford.

  5. danny Says:

im a man u fan and common be serious if spurs accept a bid from man city for £30M he will only go and reject the contract. are people sooo dumb. he wants to leave tottenham to win trophies and win champions league and win premier league he wud not leave tottenham for man city i no that for a fact just wait and see he will only leave for Man utd he even said himself, hes happy at spurs but he wants to follow his dream which is to go to utd soo i doubt he will go man city, ur having a laugh if he actually goes there to win champs league they not even in it and will take a long time for them to get init, the team that looks closest to entering the top 4 is spurs even tho they had a bad start, mabe not this year coz they got a whole new squad but next yr who knows? DIMITAR BERBATOV MAN UTD HERE HE COMES WOOOOOOW . UNTD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. The Flying Munkey Says:

The City Circus is in full swing! Giddyometers are hitting new levels.

Thank God this takeover happened on the last day of the transfer window! Imagine the giddiness in Stockport if they’d had time to actually spend some of this wealth earlier in the summer.

  7. jake Says:

haha all you united fans saying ‘he’ll reject the contract’ could well be wrong. Berbatov wants out of Tottenham, and it seems like we can afford him, whereas United can’t afford the £28 million we’ve offered, if there’s no bid from United this evening, he’ll join city.

  8. jake Says:

and danny, if he’s so happy at Tottenham, why is Ramos blaming Berbatov’s behaviour for their poor start to the season. and why did Berbatov refuse to play at Sunderland? haha silly United fans

  9. danny Says:

are u fukin stupid he wants to win trophies he and united can afford him u fish they are the 3rd richest club in the world the difference is they want to get him for as cheap as possible u dickhead grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr if he does go to city good luck but he will ruin his career

  10. danny Says:

look he didnt blame berbatov read skysports i dont think u do

  11. Citizen Smith Says:

Berbs is best mate with Petrov and wants to come..you will see, heard he asked about joining city in January window from friends of Spurs director who couldn’t believe it!

  12. bluesboy Says:

ha ha..getting nervous Danny..Berbs is our kind of player…get him blughesy hughsey..Danny, your team has a lot of aging players…and 7 of ourstarting 11 are 21 or younger. We look forward to another 6 poins of you.

  13. aaron Says:

i support newcastle and bluesboy is a fucking idiot… berbatov doesnt want to move to your shit club, he wants champions league. He wants trophys.. You havent won a fucking trophy in over 30 years…man utd is his dream move. so they will get him…

  14. Ibn Says:

LOL Why would Berbatov leave a loser-club like Tottenham to an even bigger loser club like Man City…this whole article is a joke!!!

  15. eddy Says:

if berbatov goes to man city good luck to the guy but it will be really disapointing coz he cud hav won thinggs with united and man city seriously are neva gona win premierleague or champions league as far as arsenal, liverpool, chelsea and man utd are at there best soo he would be a complete fool. common berba dont join scummy blues come to united

  16. eddy Says:

i agree with ibn tottenham arent a loser club but are playing rubbish at the mo but to leave for a club like man city it wud be a fukin joke

  17. JohnnyB Says:

Berbatov wants Champions league football, thats why he wants out. He’s 28 and doesn’t want to go to City on a promise that he might get it next year or the year after, he’s heard that before at Spurs! He’s going to Utd.

  18. eddy Says:

i agree also man u only hav 2 strikers now louis saha has just finally joined everton and with only 2 strikers this must make way now for man u to up their bid so berbatov can finally come to man utd for champions league trophies and all other trophies. BERBATOV TO UNITED COMMON!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Jeff Kaye Says:

If Man Utd don’t match City’s bid then the choice for Berbatov may be team up with Petrov or stay put. Spurs are not going to accept less money just to keep Berba. happy, especially after the past weeks antics. He had better decide just what “frame of mind” he is in-and quick.

  20. Rich Says:

It’s confirmed that United have signed him, it was done earlier today at Carrington. Expect the press conference shortly.
