Newcastle in Serious Danger of Relegation Says Former Chelsea & Aston Villa Star
Football Pools Pundit and former Republic of Ireland star Tony Cascarino has expressed his surprise at Newcastle’s appointment of Joe Kinnear last week. He said, “I was shocked as I expect many of the Newcastle fans were when Joe Kinnear was appointed manager at the club.”
He questions the judgement of the decision in terms of boosting the morale of the club, “Now I’ve met Joe and he’s a nice fella but the whole club is in need of a lift, someone to instil confidence and this appointment won’t do it. After all, it’s only a temporary appointment and the players I’m sure will just feel bewildered.”
Cascarino went as far as to suggest that only the playing staff can turn this club around regardless of the new man at the helm, “It’s now up to those players to rally around as a group now and turn this season around, not the board or the manager as this club is a complete and utter mess.”
“I honestly feel Newcastle may be relegated this season as they look far worse than they did under Allardyce and any confidence brought back by Keegan’s appointment has well and truly gone. You only have to look at the sides that are beating them at home like Hull and Blackburn to see they are in dire straits.”
Do Newcastle fans fear the worst after the recent implosion at the club? Do the players have enough about them to pick up points under the caretaker manager? Is Joe Kinnear a wise choice in the current climate and will he be given a chance? Let’s hear your views.

Whatever the mess due to Keegan’s strop and Ashley’s mismanagement, any team would be struggling with the amount of injuries Newcastle have at present. When the likes of Martins, Beye, Gutierez, Enrique, Viduka, Smith, get fit and Guthrie and Barton are back from suspension then they’ll be more competitive. No one seems to mention the injury crisis as evident as it is.
