Liverpool Legend Alan Hansen Sympathetic to Everton Manager David Moyes Predicament

David Moyes Suffers Through Another Home DefeatAfter a disappointing home defeat in the Merseyside Derby, David Moyes has come under pressure to turn the clubs form around. The Scot has also been criticised for his tactic of playing one solitary forward in the game despite playing at Goodison.

However, former Liverpool legend Alan Hansen has moved to defend Moyes and the team’s situation. He said this week, “This wasn’t the greatest Merseyside Derby as Everton were pretty poor on the day. I feel for David Moyes as expectations are high at the club but unlike some of his rival managers he doesn’t have £100m to spend.”

Footy 15Hansen suggests the club were fighting a losing battle after failing to spend in the summer, “He (Moyes) has spent virtually nothing this summer but for a club to keep improving you need to bring in better players and to do that you need to spend money. Therefore, you can’t point the finger at Moyes as his hands have been tied.”

Do Everton fans agree that the recent poor results are not the manager’s fault or would you point the blame at David Moyes for setting his team out to play his choice of formation? Do you feel the club will fail to compete at the top level unless serious investment is made? Let’s hear your views.

I don’t know who else everton signed but how much was Saha and filiani? They to me represent a decent amount spent, the problem lies in the players they have let go and that they left the spending till too late.

  2. CR Says:

We got Louis Saha for nothing. Fellaini cost 15 million, the Johnson and McFadden sales alone paid for that.

I think we had a net spend of 2 million, not good enough at all.

  3. Jack Says:

Of course it’s not moyes’ fault and we know he doesn’t have the money to spend but surely when you’re playing at home you have to play with 2 forwards up front. I’m sure our midfield can cope without the extra man as we have quite a strong team in all honesty. A stronger team than blackburn, hull and probably portsmouth aswell. And yet our negative tactics along with our shaky (although normally solid) defence has meant that as soon as we go behind in a game our heads drop and it’s an uphill struggle to get back into it.
