Sercan Yildirim: Turkish Wonderkid Targeted by Manchester United
Manchester United have reportedly made a move for an 18-year old Turkish starlet currently lighting up his homeland. Sercan Yildirim currently plays for Bursaspor in the Turkish top division and has started the season on fire which has attracted the interest of a number of clubs including the current English champions.
Sercan broke into the Bursaspor first team last season making his debut as a second half substitute in a 1-0 away defeat at Buyuksehir in September 2007. Three games later he scored his first senior goal in a 2-0 win at Kasimpasa but failed to score in the next 8 appearances (4 starts). However, this season he has really began to showcase his striking talents with 4 goals in his first 4 League appearances. In fact, the youngster currently tops the Turkish scoring charts alongside former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Milan Baros who has also scored 4 for his new club side Galatasaray.
He has played at every international age group from U15 to U21 level and is widely tipped in his homeland to become a full international. At 5 ft 9 the Osmangazi born hitman is a decent size and the fact that Sir Alex has reportedly shown an interest suggests he is a player to watch out for.
The £5m rated striker admitted this week that the Red Devils have shown an interest, “United have contacted my family and the president of the club.
“When a club with their reputation is interested in you, you have to take notice.”
So would you like United to make a move to sign yet another talented youngster or would you prefer the club to bring in proven senior players? Have you seen anything of this player? Let’s hear your views.
