Lukas Podolski: ‘I Want to Leave’ - German Striker Alerts Man City, Spurs, Aston Villa, Chelsea & Everton

German Star on his Way?Bayern Munich star Lukas Podolski looks set to leave the Allianz Arena in January after failing to nail down a first team place with the Bundesliga giants. The talented forward has been linked to moves to Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Manchester City in the summer but remains in Germany though is getting increasingly disgruntled after constantly being used from the bench.

The German international told Bild newspaper, “I have made my mind up that I would like to leave the club in the winter.”

“I have already told the management that I want to leave this winter.”

The 23-year-old has scored 3 goals in 11 League appearances this season but only started four of those games. However, at international level the goals keep coming as his tally stands at an impressive 31 goals in 60 internationals. Podolski acknowledged that his form for the national side is so good because he feels part of the set up and gets more minutes on the pitch. He said, “It does me good to free myself. When you play the full 90 minutes, you automatically play in a different way.

“Jogi Low (German Coach) is convinced of my qualities - just like me. We both know what I can do.”

Lukas is Praying for a Move Away From BayernThe German international was consistently linked to moves away from Bayern Munich last summer despite his club claiming he is not for sale. Both the player and his agent have been quoted in the press that they’d be interested in a move due to two frustrating seasons in Munich.

Spurs and Man City had reportedly made moves for the £10M German Striker last summer to no avail but could be set to renew their interest. The Bayern bit-part player also impressed for the German national side at Euro 2008 after scoring 3 goals in 6 games but has continually struggled to get a game for his club side.

The appointment of former national boss Jurgen Klinsmann at Bayern looked set to lead to more games for the Polish-born striker which has yet to materialise. Despite being a particular favourite for Klinsmann at the 2006 World Cup when he was voted the best young player at the tournament Podolski cannot break up the forward line of Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni.

After these recent comments, a move to the Premier League in January is looking more and more likely for the talented star. After making just 25 League starts in 2 and a half seasons with Bayern, Lukas Podolski’s future looks set to be elsewhere. The likes of Spurs, Everton, Man City and Chelsea are all on the look out for new strikers and who better than a youngster with an international record like Podolski?

So would you like your club to bid for the German international in January? Do you think Podolski is suited to the Premier League? Let’s hear your views.

Perfect signing for Villa this Jan! Would add the youth, pace and quality we need to claim that Champions league spot. MON, PLEASE MAKE AN OFFER also a world class right back would be good.

  2. Ryan Says:

I agree AL, if Villa sign this player i think big things could happen, and while raiding Munich why not bring back Tommy Hitzlsperger (THE HAMMER) while we are at it, then i think we would have a great midfield, the only weakness is LB which hopefully Bouma makes a quick recovery to displace Shorey, then Young can play his normal position as right back.

  3. tommy Says:

what are you two on about? a) we can’t yet attract a ‘world class’ right back at this current momemnt in time and Luke Young is doing a good job anyhow & b) Hitzelsperger, give me a break, Gardner is a miles better midfielder and he’s our fifth choice center mid.

  4. daniel Says:

r u kidding me tommy?Hitzelsperger is a very efficient midfielder. not only can he shoot but he is also a great defender, furthermore he is german international who played in the finals agains spain. therefore, he is fat better than Gardner!

  5. daniel Says:

    far better*
