Rijkaard the ‘Dream Ticket’ to Replace Hiddink at Chelsea - Tony Cascarino
It would seem as though Guus Hiddink’s time in charge of Chelsea will end when the season does though I expect if the club were to win the Champions League then there’s a strong possibility he would be convinced to stay.
As a club, Chelsea are hungry for silverware so if Hiddink does manage to win something I’m sure Roman Abramovich will be keen to keep him. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hiddink does depart with his fellow countryman Frank Rijkaard taking over.
Abramovich seems to be such a fan of attacking, free-flowing football that I can’t see him not being interested in Rijkaard. He would seem to be the dream ticket as he is both unemployed and has a great reputation for attractive football. After all, his Barcelona side produced some incredible exciting football whilst he was coach.
Chelsea still look a bit short of their best form so I don’t see Hiddink staying beyond the end of the season. The bottom line for anyone wanting to take charge of Chelsea is that they have to win things if they want to stay manager of the club and I’m doubtful whether Hiddink will be able to do that this season.
