Jakub Blaszczykowski: Liverpool Close in on £7M Bundesliga Star Winger!

Jakub BlaszczykowskiReports suggest Liverpool will launch a fresh £7m bid for Borussia Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski in the summer as long as the player proves his fitness following a long injury lay-off.

Though the 23-year-old Polish international is relatively unknown of in this country, he is highly-rated in Europe and would finally add balance and competiiton to the right-side of midfield without sacrificing the team’s work ethic.

Blaszczykowski is an attacking right winger and would finally provide expertise in that position to a Reds side that has been using Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt in that role. The Anfield giants remain contenders for the Premier League and have an extremely strong spine to their team but have been criticised for sometimes lacking the width and guile that Manchester United possess. However, Albert Riera’s summer arrival and the increasing interest in Blaszczykowski suggests that the width and dribbling ability the team has been crying out for will be in place this summer.

ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW

The Polish international begun his career with Wisla Krakow in his homeland. He made a total of 51 League appearances over 3 seasons and scored 4 goals before a 3 million Euro move to Germany.

In his first season in the Bundesliga, Blaszczykowski impressed playing the majority of the time on the right wing where his pace and dribbling ability could be used to maximum affect. However, he has also been used as a wing-back on occasions so his versatility would certainly appeal to Benitez.

The 5 ft 9 winger made 24 League appearances (22 starts) in his debut season for Borussia as the club finished a disappointing 13th. However, this season the team have performed well and are currently 7th in the Bundesliga although. Blaszczykowski has only played in 22 league games (18 starts) after being sidelined through injury. His impact on the side cannot be underestimated. After all, since his return to fitness, Borussia have won all 4 of their league matches home and away.

Polish Star Set for Anfield? The 23-year-old has made 21 appearances for his country and scored twice. He was unfortunate not to play a part at Euro 2008 as he had to withdraw through to injury despite being named in the squad. In fact, the winger was a key component to Poland’s excellent qualification campaign as was sorely missed in the finals. Blaszczykowski made his debut in March 2006 but was not called up to the final 2006 World Cup squad so has been rather unfortunate at international level not to feature in two major finals.

If he does sign for Liverpool then their fans won’t have to worry about getting his long name on the back of their replica shirts as he usually prefers ‘Kuba’ as a shortened version of his Christian name. If Benitez can bring in this quick, talented winger then Liverpool will be even stronger in terms of balance and personnel for next season’s campaign.

Do you feel the club needs a new right winger or is Dirk Kuyt good enough? Would the signing of a good right winger give the squad the added attacking quality to finish the opposition off in tight matches? Let’s hear your views.

  3. Drchoudhury Says:

  4. tommy walsh Says:

no thanks leave him where he is but buy renato agusto hes like kaka

  5. Crazy Horse Says:

He`s young, has pace to burn and is quite good technically. Doesn`t score too many goals though, but creates quite a few. Tough call to make. Should we continue buying 7-10million players or should we fork out the double/triple and bring in someone like Silva or Ribery? Let`s leave it to Rafa, I think he`s in a better position than us to make the call.

  6. Mistry Says:

He doesnt sound like a bad playa but if we wanna push for the title then we have to bring in the likes of Ribery, Silva or Villa…..not ‘Jakub Blaszcykowski’:P
I say first player we need is Ribery, hes bloody wiked and he cxan take Kuyt place on the right…..we need sum1 who can actually cross a ball out there

  7. Simo Says:

This guy is pure class, i hope we sign him. Polish work colleagues rave about Kuba all the time. A Man U fan among them is ready to convert if he signs for us

  8. dublinred96 Says:

after watchin that short clip to be honest kuyt is a better player then he his and dirk scores more goals……….. that viedo does nothing for me just look at the balooned effert at 0.51……. that says it all

  9. connor Says:

Didnt like him anyway and that youtube videos made me hate him even more. 7 mil? jog on

  10. fox Says:

That clip sucks!! Blaszczykowski is way better that on the movie!! Type in you tube his name and take a look what he can really play. I’m from Poland anyway :)

  11. Adamsky_7 Says:

How can u guys say anything abt Kuba if u dont even know him!U hv no idea how good player he is!That YouTube video doesn’t show anything.Hv a look on Borussia-Bayern or Poland-Czech Republic if u wanna see something better..I am sure this player is worth a 7m pounds and Liverpool will be much stronger with Blaszczykowski in t squad otherwise Rafa would never be intrested in him.Come on Kuba!

  12. bobson Says:

KUBA is one of the quickest winger in Europe. I think he is much quicker than Kuyt and what more important he has much better skills in a combinative way of play, I mean he knows how to cheat his rivals and thus he gives big power to his team. Please, copy his name KUBA into youtube and you will see him in action. He just plays like this. And he is a real warrior.

  13. tommy walsh Says:

its not hard to look good in germany tell me what has ribery won in football he looked very ordinary against barca look even vorinon looks class out there we should try and give youngsters a try even buy aron lennon

  14. PhilC Says:

Prior to Riera’s arrival to Anfield for £8M all the so-call “Liverpool fans” says he’s going to be a flop. They now singing his name whenever he get the ball.I personally was quite excited about the prospect of us having a new specialized winger on our side. Just as I am now with Kuba. Lets face it we can’t afford to get Ribery or Silva or anyone over £10M for a winger and expect to spend big on a striker as well as a right-back players. He’s young, skillful, intelligent as well as versatile in my book thats a bargain. We don’t need another superstar on our side, just a skillful player who works hard will do.

  15. Kamster Says:

Get rid of the dross Lucas and sign kuba. Nothing could be as bad a lucas……

  16. rammy Says:

    KUBA is an excellent player.
Watch him he played against Czech squad
last October in World Cup qualifier (e.g. at the 1st goal for Poland).
He is a player the FC Liverpool can not loose.
I am a Man U fan but if KUBA joins the Reds I will join the Reds as their new supporter

  17. ferdinand Says:

No kuba lets sign RENATO AUGUSTO beautiful skill and passing ability or,lafita is also good or even sao paulo current no 10.very good attacking midfielder.NO KUBA

  18. gaxx Says:

    1:20 action - perfect :)

  19. robski Says:

this is the worst video i have ever seen on any player, thats really sad cause he is 5x better then on this video, it doesnt show what he is really capable of. I recommend watching other videos and i am sure everyone will be impressed.

  20. Burt Says:

Kuba is quality, just look at Poland, when he is in the team they beat or compete with even the best of teams. When they beat and drew with Portugal for the world cup qualifiers kuba cut them apart Ronaldo did’nt know what hit him, best player i can match him to is wright-phillips but braver and quicker. Another player from Poland is Jelen plays for Auxere this guy is sooooooo fast he pulls away from players even when the ball is at his feet. look him up on youtube. I think a lot of Polish/eastern europeans dont get the recognition they deserve

  21. Alan Says:

All you Liverpool fans that say hes nothing special are so badly mistaken, he is faster and quicker than Ribery!! watch him against Munich (every Munich game Kuba has scored) He is a God in Poland…Jelen btw is officially the fastest player in the world closely followed by Kuba! both Polish. Im telling you, if his injuries go away he will be the world no. 1 Ronaldo actually (seriously) started crying when Poland beat them coz he didn’t know what to do with Kuba. So jealous of the club that will buy him…his price tag now is 18million!!!

  22. hydrolyze eye cream Says:

Whats up! Fantastic concept, but will this actually perform?
