Alan Hansen: Manchester United to Show Why They are Champions Against Arsenal

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Arsenal have started the season in scintillating form, they’ve won both league matches emphatically as well as beaten Celtic home and away in the Champions League. After scoring six at Everton and a further four against Portsmouth, the Gunners became the first side in Premier League history to reach double figures after just two matches. Despite the sale of two first teamers in Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure, the Gunners have looked extremely dangerous going forward and almost more importantly, sound at the back.

Alan Hansen: Bruce’s Battling Black Cats to Earn Point at Stoke

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Steve Bruce has made some impressive signings for the Black Cats this summer but his new look team face a real battle to get anything from one of the Premier League’s fortresses, Stoke’s Britannia Stadium.

Alan Hansen: Zola’s Hard to Beat Hammers Won’t Lose at Blackburn

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Big Sam Allardyce’s Blackburn have been unfortunate with their opening two league results after defeats to both Man City and Sunderland. Their performances in both matches were better than their results deserved, so I wouldn’t write off Rovers as relegation candidates just yet.

Alan Hansen: Aston Villa to Build on Anfield Win Against Fulham

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Aston Villa shocked Liverpool at Anfield in midweek and will have gained a massive amount of confidence from that result. Next up they face a Fulham side that will be without star striker Andrew Johnson and that has had to travel back from European exertions in Russia which should seriously limits the Londoners chances of winning this one.

Alan Hansen: A Bridge too Far for Burnley at ‘Impressive’ Chelsea

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Owen Coyle’s Burnley side will be aiming to complete an unlikely hat-trick of shock wins this weekend when they face unbeaten Chelsea at the Bridge. After home wins over the champions Manchester United and last season’s 5th placed side Everton, confidence will be sky high in the Clarets camp but Carlo Ancelotti’s side are looking extremely strong at the moment.

Alan Hansen: Man City to Make it 3 & Easy at Fratton Park

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Manchester City’s start to the season could hardly have gone any better, the new arrivals have bedded in well, the new strikers have got off the mark and they are yet to concede a goal. Up next they face a Portsmouth team in disarray after the sale of most of their top stars including Sylvain Distin this week.

Alan Hansen: Moyes’ Men to Return to Winning Ways Against Wigan

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

New Wigan manager Roberto Martinez celebrated an impressive win at Villa Park on the opening day of the season but any thoughts about this being a trouble free campaign have been well and truly shattered since. Defeats to Wolves, Manchester United and Blackpool suggest that the young Spaniard has a tough job on his hands. His counterpart this weekend is David Moyes who has also had a tough start to the 2009/10 season. However, I have a feeling the Toffees will turn that around this weekend.

Alan Hansen: Harry’s Spurs to Stay Top After Giving Birmingham the Blues!

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Tottenham have enjoyed a dream start to the 2009/10 season after winning all three of their opening league matches and the way they’re playing, I’d expect them to make it win number 4 against Birmingham.

Alan Hansen: Liverpool to Show ‘True Character’ at the Reebok

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

My old club have had a nightmare start to the season after two defeats from their opening three matches. The home defeat against Aston Villa means that Liverpool’s next fixture away at Bolton is of massive significance in terms of rebuilding both confidence and belief.
