Birmingham Fan Wins £30,000 Thanks to Kevin Phillips Late Double!

Birmingham fans must be in dreamland after taking the Premier League by storm this season. Alex McLeish’s side showed the spirit and resilience within the camp once again at the weekend as they came from behind to beat Wolves 2-1 at St Andrews’. That comeback may have pleased every Bluenose in the Second City but for one Birmingham fan, there was even more reason to celebrate.

On a weekend where there were relatively few shock results, a home win for Birmingham was expected. However, with the side trailing 1-0 with ten minutes remaining, a victory for the Blues looked unlikely until veteran striker Kevin Phillips netted twice in a five-minute spell to send the home fans into raptures and increasing one of their fan’s chances of winning Premier 10.

‘Timf’ (nickname) from Banbury won the entire Premier 10 jackpot at the weekend but needed his own team to win to do so. In fact, he was unable to watch the game so had assumed they’d lost hearing they were 1-0 down with minutes remaining. However, as he had correctly predicted a home win for Birmingham as well as in the other eight matches that had played; he just needed Chelsea to win to win the entire £30,000 jackpot. He watched the Chelsea v Arsenal game without knowing this was the case which may have prevented him suffering a heart-attack as the Gunners continued to push forward. It was only later in the evening that he found out about Kevin Phillips double and the fact he was a big winner.

He had this to say, “I couldn’t believe it, I was watching my son play in a football match and knew Birmingham City was 1-0 down against Wolves. Afterwards not knowing the final score and thinking I could only get 9 correct, I went and watched the Chelsea v Arsenal game. It was only then I realised that Birmingham City had pulled two goals back and actually won 2-1…… and both scored by the substitute Kevin Phillips!”

“Realising then I had 10 correct I was over the moon but until this call never realised I had won £30,000.00. As I am in the process of buying a new house, this really couldn’t have come at a better time. I haven’t been playing Premier 10 long, only signed up in November so I really have been lucky.
