Mesut Ozil: Manchester United Alerted to Dazzling German’s Contract Breakdown

One of the stars of last summer’s U21 European Championships in Sweden was the young German playmaker Mesut Ozil who played a key role in his nation’s triumph. The 21-year-old Werder Bremen youngster played a large part in Germany’s success in the tournament including a man-of-the-match display in the 4-0 final win over England. Recent reports in the German press suggest Manchester United are set to bid for the player and recent comments from the player himself hint that he is ready to leave.

Joao Moutinho: Everton Declare Interest in Dazzling Portuguese Playmaker

Everton are expected to once again bid for long-term target Joao Moutinho this summer as suggested by club Chief Executive Robert Elstone. The Portuguese star was key to Sporting Lisbon’s recent Europa League win over the Toffees which has only intensified David Moyes interest in bringing him to Goodison Park.

Arda Turan: Turkish Golden Boy to Seal ‘Dream’ Move to Liverpool

According to reports in the Turkish press, Rafa Benitez rejected the January transfer window bid from Birmingham for Ryan Babel as he was trying to finalise a deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray for a swap deal plus cash for their captain and star man Arda Turan. No deal could be reached in time but the Turkish star is expected to complete a deal this summer and his quotes to Uefa.com confirm the player wants to move.

Romelu Lukaku: The 16-Year-Old Scoring Sensation on Arsenal, Man United & Chelsea Hitlist

The Premier League’s big guns have all been monitoring the form of one of Europe’s brightest young starlets Romelu Lukaku. The 16-year-old striker has broken into Belgian giants Anderlecht’s first team despite his tender years and leads the scoring charts. The teenager has also impressed in Europe as Anderlecht have reached the last 16 of the Europa League with Lukaku playing a key role.

Ibrahim Afellay: Dazzling £10M Dutchman Opens Door to Liverpool Summer Move

Press reports suggest a number of Serie A’s biggest clubs are vying for the signature of PSV’s attacking midfielder Ibrahim Afellay alongside Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool. The Dutchman’s agent Rob Jansen has suggested that the player’s future is uncertain which will only increase speculation that the player will be on his way to Anfield at the end of the season.

West Ham did what they had to do on the last day of the transfer window and brought in strikers. The three new arrivals were shrewd moves in so much as they will make an impact but the Hammers have not broken the bank to sign them. Gianfranco Zola needed bodies up front and now he has them.

Janko: Birmingham Set to Sign for 39-Goal 2008/09 European Top Scorer

Birmingham are reportedly set to seal a deal for last season’s top scorer in Europe. Surprisingly this was not one of the biggest names in club football such as Samuel Eto’o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Cristiano Ronaldo. Instead it was a little known Austrian by the name of Marc Janko who scored a staggering 39 League goals in just 34 appearances (31 starts). Despite his heroics, the Austrian star did not earn a big money move to one of the more lucrative leagues in Europe in the summer and remains at Salzburg. However, after failing to sign Ryan Babel or Roman Pavlyuchenko, Birmingham are now in late negotiations with Salzburg as they look to strengthen their forward line.

Arda Turan: Late Liverpool Swap Swoop, Dazzling Turk to Replace Babel?

According to reports in the Turkish press, Rafa Benitez rejected the recent bid from Birmingham for Ryan Babel as trying to finalise a deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray for a swap deal plus cash for their captain and star man Arda Turan. The player was widely expected to leave Galatasaray last summer with the club finishing a highly disappointing 5th in the Turkish league, 10 points behind champions Besiktas. However, it would seem that Arda may have played his last game for the club as Benitez is tries to push through a deal today in an attempt to claw back a Champions League place by the end of the current campaign.

Miguel Veloso: Spurs to Seal Late £9M Move for Portuguese Anchorman?

Tottenham are deep in negotiations to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Miguel Veloso today as Harry Redknapp looks to recoup funds with the sales of Alan Hutton and Roman Pavlyuchenko. A number of top European clubs such as Arsenal, Barcelona and Fiorentina have been linked with a move for Veloso but Spurs are finally set to get their man before the transfer window shuts after convincing Tottenham to spend in order to maintain their top four push.
