PREMIER 10 REVIEW - JANUARY 12th & 13th

Possibly the biggest Premier 10 shock of the weekend came at the Emirates where the Gunners surprisingly slipped up in the race for the title. Despite being awarded a fortuitous first half penalty slotted home by Adebayor the floodgates that a massive 96% were hoping would open, never did. Instead it was Alex McLeish’s battling Birmingham who equalised from a second half corner just 3 minutes into the 2nd half. The expected Arsenal backlash never came and just 3% of you predicted the right result, you were the chosen few.

SUNDERLAND v PORTSMOUTH - POMPEY KEANE ON YET ANOTHER AWAY WIN?

Sunderland remain the only club in the bottom 6 who have kept faith in their manager this season. Whilst 8 of the 20 Premier League clubs have sacked their managers, Roy Keane’s name has not been linked with the chop at all. The Black Cats have hardly been impressive since rejoining the top flight and find themselves in the bottom 3 despite spending £32million on new recruits so why is Roy exempt from the threat of the sack? One realistic conclusion is that the powers that be at the club are scared witless of the volatile Irishman or alternatively they believe in their man and don’t want to go down the same route as their local black and white striped neighbours.

BOLTON v BLACKBURN - TROTTERS IN-THE-DEEP-END TRADERS?

The ongoing Nicolas Anelka saga looks set to be resolved before the weekend with his expected transfer to Chelsea to be completed. The sale of Bolton’s star player could jeopardise the Trotters Premier League safety with only 3 points separating them from the drop zone. Anelka’s goal tally emphasizes his importance this season. The moody Frenchman has scored 10 of Bolton’s 23 Premier League goals. The club’s next top scorers have 3 apiece in the shape of Kevin Nolan and El-hadji Diouf. So expect the Trotters to struggle.
