BLACKBURN 0-1 CHELSEA - COLE RELIGHTS THE CHELSEA FIRE!

Monday, December 24th, 2007

No surprises in the result after Rovers recent awful run, but Blackburn gave Chelsea a far more torrid time than form would have suggested. The Blues or the luminous yellows in the case showed that even without star men John Terry and Didier Drogba they still enough talent to beat most Premier League sides. Frank Lampard’s quest for his 100th Chelsea goal goes on after a personal duel with big American keeper Brad Friedel frustrating him time and again.

MANCHESTER UTD 2-1 EVERTON - MERRY CRISTIANO!

Monday, December 24th, 2007

The result the majority 84% of you expected finally came at Old Trafford on Sunday but United left it very left again. Not many of you (4%) expected the Toffees to end their 15-year wait for a win at Old Trafford despite Everton being the form team of the division. David Moyes sprang a surprise by playing both his main forwards in Yakubu and Andy Johnson rather than just the one as usual. This sums up the new found confidence flooding round Goodison Park at the moment.

NEWCASTLE 2-2 DERBY - DERBY’S RAM RAID EARNS A POINT!

Monday, December 24th, 2007

This was the shock of the weekend with 92% of you expecting revitalised Newcastle to pile more misery on the rock bottom Rams. However in the end the Toon were fortunate to earn a point. Derby only managed their first away goal of the season in their last away match at Old Trafford, on Sunday they doubled their season’s tally.

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

It looks like another good weekend is in store for Big Sam’s Newcastle as the face the rock bottom Rams at St James’ Park. However, which Premier League side is the only team to lose to Derby since their return to top flight football, yep you guessed it, it was Newcastle. That 1-0 win came back in mid-September and will seem a long time ago to the suffering Rams fans who have endured eleven winless games since.

MANCHESTER UTD v EVERTON - SAME OLD STORY FOR TOFFEES AT OLD TRAFFORD?

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

David Moyes faces a stern test of his Everton team’s potential when he faces the side they historically struggle against Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend. In the 15-year history of the Premier League, the Toffees have won just 3 games against United and lost a mere 24 times so the omens don’t exactly look good. The Everton record at Old Trafford is particularly poor with no win at the Theatre of Dreams since 1992. That season Peter Beardsley, Robert Warzycha and Mo Johnston were the scorers in a 3-0 win. It was the year Apartheid ended in South Africa, Betty Boothroyd became the first female speaker in the House of Commons and the British pair Linford Christie and Sally Gunnell won Olympic gold in Barcelona. Everton fans travelling to the game should dust off their audiotapes of Snap’s ‘Rhythm is a dancer’ to get in the mood as this was number one on that historic day.
