Alan Hansen’s Premier League Preview: Burnley v Tottenham

Tottenham travel to Burnley this weekend in buoyant mood after an excellent display on Wednesday night that secured the club Champions League football next season. All credit to Harry Redknapp and his players for this great achievement which can only improve the belief and mentality of this relatively young squad. Harry is likely to make a number of changes to his side with 4th place assured which should make for an open exciting game with the Clarets playing their last Premier League match of a long hard and ultimately disappointing campaign.

Alan Hansen’s Premier League Preview: Arsenal v Fulham

While Arsenal’s season has fizzled out after much excitement, Fulham enter this match buzzing ahead of their forthcoming Europa League final. The Gunners are now looking over their shoulders with North London rivals just two points behind them. However, due to the Cottagers involvement in Europe 3 days after this match, Arsene Wenger’s season is likely to finish on a high with Roy Hodgson likely to ring the changes.

Tottenham’s hold on fourth spot is far more precarious after a disappointing defeat at Manchester United last weekend but with three games to go, a home match with Bolton is surely a must-win match. With two away trips to follow at Manchester City and Burnley, Harry Redknapp will be hoping his team can get the three points to set up their midweek trip to Eastlands perfectly. With City and Aston Villa set to face each other, a big win for Spurs could put them in an even stronger position. However, the pressure is now off Owen Coyle’s team and they’ve shown in recent away games that they can be tricky opposition.

Manchester City take on Aston Villa in a massive game at Eastlands which is crucial to the race for fourth place. Martin O’Neill’s Villans have played their way back into the race with three successive wins and will now fancy their chances of upsetting City who have now lost two of their last four at home after previously being unbeaten at Eastlands. Villa have won their last three and with Tottenham and Man City set to play each other in midweek in their games in hand, they need to win again.

With Chelsea facing a tough trip to Anfield, Manchester United travel to the Stadium of Light for a must-win match with Sunderland. This is viewed by many as the weekend which will decide the destination of the title as both United and Chelsea should comfortably win the final weekend’s home fixtures. On paper Carlo Ancelotti’s team arguably have the toughest test this weekend, however, the Black Cats are in a rich vein of form at home and have already beaten the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham there.
