Tony Cascarino: ‘Feeble’ Newcastle Need to End ‘Big-Name Mentality’ & Buy British

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I was not surprised at the lack of a performance from Newcastle at Villa Park at the weekend as for me, they are one of the most feeble teams I’ve seen for a number of years. The Magpies current side have got nothing to offer and it would have been a miracle if they’d managed to stay up.

Tony Cascarino: Newcastle Can’t Afford to ‘Carry’ Michael Owen Anymore!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

I’m afraid Newcastle are now paying the cost of terrible decision making at the club for the past two years. Every decision made seems to have been contrary to what was actually needed. I’ve nothing against Alan Shearer but the decision to go for yet another big name to get them out of trouble was an awful one.

Alan Hansen Defends Shearer & Owen as Newcastle Reach ‘Do or Die’ Time

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Much has been made of Newcastle’s failure to pick up a win under Alan Shearer in his three matches in charge but for me, that’s completely unfair considering the fixtures he has had to deal with.

Shearer is ‘Last Throw of the Dice’ for Newcastle - Tony Cascarino

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Newcastle United football club never cease to amaze me in their quest to keep 52,000 fans on seats. Once again they have made a major appointment in an attempt to excite the Geordie faithful but it really is a sandcastle of a club with no foundations.

Alan Hansen: Shearer has ‘Newcastle in his Blood’ & Survival Chances are Far Better Now

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I must say this is a very shrewd move from Mike Ashley to bring Alan back to the club for the final 8 matches as it’s sure to galvanise the crowd and in turn the team. Any professional footballer will tell you that the atmosphere at St James’ Park is extra special when the fans are fully behind the team and that’s sure to be the case for the rest of the season. That atmosphere will lift the players for sure.

John Barnes: Shearer to Keep Newcastle in the Premier League Where they Belong!

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I think the appointment of Alan Shearer is a good move for my old club Newcastle. We all know he had turned the role down before but in terms of timing this couldn’t be any better. If they stay up and to be honest I thought they would anyway, then Alan will be the saviour, the messiah if you will, if not then the past regime will be blamed.

Shearer to Save Newcastle? It didn’t Work for Brooking at West Ham or Pearce at Nottingham Forest

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Newcastle are to appoint Alan Shearer as caretaker manager for the final 8 games of the season but will be hoping to avoid the fates of two other clubs who turned to club legends during a season in order to save their clubs.

Will Newcastle Legend Alan Shearer Cut his Managerial Teeth at Blackburn?

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Mounting speculation concerning the vacant managerial post at Blackburn suggests Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is the front runner for the job. The former Rovers striker is one of a number of candidates for the position alongside the likes of MK Dons manager Paul Ince, Sam Allardyce and Steve McClaren.
