Alan Hansen’s Premier 10 Pick: Hull v Arsenal

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Hull may have produced one of the shocks of last season when they defeated Arsenal at the Emirates but it is worth noting that the Gunners have won all three meetings in all competitions since. Arsene Wenger’s team arrive at the KC Stadium full of confidence after a 4-match winning streak that has seen them move into the quarter-finals of the Champions League and right back into the Premier League title race.

Cascarino’s Champions League Preview: Arsenal v Porto

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I have to begin by saying this is a very tricky match for Arsenal. It will be made even more difficult if Cesc Fabregas doesn’t recover from his hamstring injury. The Gunners captain has been superb this season and has got his team out of jail of numerous occasions. Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney have received plenty of plaudits for pushing their respective teams on this season but Fabregas has been just as or even more important for Arsene Wenger’s team.

Alan Hansen’s Premier 10 Pick: Arsenal v Burnley

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Arsenal picked up an excellent result at Stoke last weekend although it came at a cost with the long-term injury to young Aaron Ramsey. However, that win should give the team the belief they can still win the Premier League title especially with Chelsea dropping more points at home to Manchester City. The Gunners have by far the easiest run-in on paper but at this stage of the season anything can happen. Despite this, I cannot see anything other than a comfortable home win for Arsene Wenger’s team against the worst travellers in the league, Burnley.

Cascarino: Spurs’ Lennon & Arsenal’s Walcott Should be go to the World Cup

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Theo Walcott is back in the England squad for tonight’s game with Egypt despite a pretty awful season for Arsenal. He has played very little football but apart from the recent match with Sunderland, he has done very little. However, I do feel that Fabio Capello knows how to get the best out of Walcott and will give him every chance to make the squad. It’s a shame Tottenham star Aaron Lennon is not fit as he was definitely the in-form right winger in the Premier League. He has thrilled the White Hart Lane fans this season with some scintillating performances for Harry Redknapp. Spurs and England need him back fully fit and firing as soon as possible.

Cascarino: Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross Should Not be Vilified for a Mistimed Tackle

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Stoke City’s Ryan Shawcross has been called up to the England squad for the match with Egypt but the timing could have been better following the furore over his tackle on Arsenal youngster Aaron Ramsey at the weekend. Personally, I hope he is not judged unfairly.
