Gary Megson moved swiftly to secure the £5m signing of Birmingham’s young midfielder Fabrice Muamba and this week Bolton Chairman Phil Gartside has hinted that the club will break the club record with the next signing which will be a much needed striker.

Press reports claim Kevin Keegan has bid £10million for France’s new international striker Bafetimbi Gomis. The 22-year-old has just broken into the national team and was included in the Euro 2008 squad at the expense of more high profile stars Djibril Cisse and most surprisingly David Trezeguet. Few would have heard of him in England yet his scoring record and reputation as the ‘new Didier Drogba’ may lead to more attention in upcoming weeks.

The French have been blessed with strikers over recent years such as Thierry Henry, Sylvain Wiltord, David Trezeguet, Karim Benzema, Sidney Govou, Nicolas Anelka and Djibril Cisse. However, there’s a less famous name in the France’s Euro 2008 squad who’s been called up ahead of the likes of established internationals Trezeguet and Cisse, his name is Bafetimbi Gomis.
