Alan Hansen’s Premier 10 Pick: Tottenham v Blackburn

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Tottenham remain in pole position for a 4th placed finish but with games running out, this is yet another must win for Harry Redknapp’s injury-hit team. Spurs have arguably one of the biggest and best squads in the Premier League and Harry is having to make full use of that fact with the likes of Aaron Lennon, David Bentley, Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King all missing. Despite a number of important first teamers out, I still expect Tottenham to get the better of a Blackburn team this weekend that continues to suffer from a bad case of travel sickness.

Alan Hansen’s Premier 10 Preview: Liverpool v Blackburn

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Blackburn enter this match full of confidence following a run of four wins from their last six league games. However, Liverpool have only lost one of their last nine league games and boast an excellent record against Rovers in recent seasons especially at Anfield.

Alan Hansen’s Premier League Preview: Stoke v Blackburn

Friday, February 5th, 2010

This match won’t be short of commitment but perhaps isn’t one for the purists. Nevertheless it should be an intriguing encounter but I would suggest one involving few goals. Neither of these sides are the most prolific goal scorers so this could be settled by one goal and if any team will win it; my money would be back on Stoke.

Tony Cascarino: Mido & McCarthy ‘Shrewd’ Signings for West Ham

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

West Ham did what they had to do on the last day of the transfer window and brought in strikers. The three new arrivals were shrewd moves in so much as they will make an impact but the Hammers have not broken the bank to sign them. Gianfranco Zola needed bodies up front and now he has them.

Alan Hansen’s Premier League Preview: West Ham v Blackburn

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Blackburn’s midweek home win over Wigan was the perfect tonic to the disappointment of losing in the Carling Cup final and propelled Rovers to 10th in the Premier League. Alternatively West Ham let two points slip despite leading at bottom club Portsmouth. Despite the differing midweek fortunes, I expect West Ham to be the victors at Upton Park this weekend.

Alan Hansen’s Premier League Pick: Blackburn v Wigan

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Wigan are arguably the most unpredictable side in the Premier League this season with the ability to beat teams like Aston Villa and Chelsea but also liable to ridiculous thrashings like the 9-1 defeat suffered at Tottenham. Roberto Martinez’ team have been unable to win successive league matches this season and although Blackburn are not performing well, I doubt they will manage it this week. After all, the Latics don’t possess a good record at Ewood Park.
