Arsenal’s Captaincy Dilemma: Who Would You Choose to Lead the Gunners Next Season?
Monday, June 16th, 2008
After last season’s anti-climatic end to the campaign in which Gunners Captain William Gallas’ credentials for the role were questioned it remains to be seen who’ll Arsene Wenger use as his on field leader for 2008/09. The former Chelsea defender was involved in a number of incidents which has brought his choice as captaincy into question, none more so than his bizarre sit down protest at the end of the draw at Birmingham in March.
After the departure of big personalities Jens Lehmann and Mathieu Flamini the young side may need guidance more than ever. There are a number of candidates for the role if Wenger does replace the French international with both his centre-half partner Kolo Toure and young midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas the prime candidates. However, who do you think should be given the armband or do you think it would be detrimental to the club and the player if Gallas did not carry on in the role? Let’s hear your views.
