The Old Firm clash for the 3rd time this season this coming weekend at Ibrox. These derbies are always massive occasions but this one has the added importance of going some way to determining the destination of the SPL title. Walter Smith’s Rangers team are 7 points clear of their rivals and have the added bonus of a game in hand. Realistically Celtic need to win this one but their form especially away from home is patchy to say the least.

Rangers v Celtic promises to be yet another exciting no-holds barred Old Firm derby as the destination of the SPL title could hinge on this clash. Rangers are in pole position, 7 points clear with a game in hand but a win for Tony Mowbray’s side at Ibrox could give the Bhoys some much needed momentum. Celtic are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions but their rivals are on a far superior run.

Robbie Keane’s loan move from Tottenham to Celtic wasn’t overly surprising. Although Harry Redknapp has constantly declared that he wants to keep him at Spurs, It was pretty obvious that he was surplus to requirements. I think Harry has been a bit disappointed with Robbie’s form since he returned to White Hart Lane as he has not looked anything like the player that left to join Liverpool.

Manchester City and Celtic fans would have been fuming with their sides inability to see out a win when they were overwhelming favourites in their recent clashes with Burnley and Falkirk respectively but one Ipswich fan was laughing all the way to the bank.

It has been the perfect start for Arsenal this season not only in terms of their results but also the teams they’ve faced so far. They’ve produced some scintillating football, scored plenty of goals but the real test of just how good Arsene Wenger’s side is will come next weekend when they travel to Old Trafford.

I was not surprised Arsenal beat Everton at the weekend although I was surprised at the extent of the score line. It was a good time for the Gunners to go to Goodison with David Moyes unable to do any deals this summer, the Joleon Lescott affair dragging on and also the nice weather played a part. All these factors had their effect although you can’t take anything away from Arsenal’s impressive display.

Tottenham continue to be strongly linked to Scottish PFA Player of the Year Scott Brown this summer despite the player waxing lyrical over the arrival of Tony Mowbray as Celtic’s new manager. Harry Redknapp is a keen admirer over the combative Scot and sees him as the ideal man to partner Wilson Palacios in the Spurs midfield.

Arsenal, Man City and Celtic are turning their attention towards Barcelona’s young central defender Martin Caceres this summer. The Uruguayan has also been strongly linked to Juventus with the Italian club’s administrator Jean-Claude Blanc admitting the interest to Corriere dello Sport, “We are evaluating the possibility to acquire defender Martin on loan from Barcelona.”
