The Sky Blues have had a remarkable start to the new campaign seeing that they only escaped relegation by a single point last season.
The first weekend of the season was a great one with lots of good football and a few shocks along the way. However, there’s no shock I am top of the Football Pools Pundit’s table though to be fair we are all going to have good and bad weeks. Unfortunately Alan Hansen had a bad one but it could be me next week so I won’t gloat too much.
Darren Huckerby is the latest in a long line of ageing stars to arrive in America to join Major League Soccer after signing for the San Jose Earthquake. However, the former Newcastle, Coventry, Leeds, Man City and Norwich star in one interview with an American news channel sums up why ‘soccer’ and America is not such a great fit.
Once again the destination of the Championship title looks extremely difficult to predict with a number of clubs in with a good shout. There’s the likes of Bristol City, Crystal Palace and Watford who all reached the play-offs last season though the impact of getting so close to promotion could have a negative affect on the players.
The two League meetings between these two sides this season have been high scoring affairs with 10 goals scored. The Baggies won 4-0 at the Ricoh Arena in November but surprisingly lost 4-2 at home just a month later. However, things aren’t looking so good for the Sky Blues after the dismissal of their manager Iain Dowie and they’ve dropped to a perilous 19th in the Championship.
