Tony Cascarino: Tottenham Stars Crouch & Defoe Should Go to the World Cup

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

With Emile Heskey and Carlton Cole missing through injury there’s a chance for some of England’s other strikers to stake a claim for a World Cup squad place alongside definite traveller Wayne Rooney. Peter Crouch doesn’t seem to have convinced Capello yet of his abilty but for me he can have as big an impact at the World Cup as Rooney or Gerrard. He is so much better than all the other strikers England have available to play his role and I’m certainly not convinced by Emile Heskey even though he is currently first choice under Capello.

Tony Cascarino: No Relegation Fears for Steve Bruce’s Sunderland This Season

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Sunderland may have been soundly beaten by Chelsea last night but there is still plenty of reasons to be cheerful for Black Cats fans. Darren Bent scored for the 2nd successive match and will prove to be a great signing. Despite a poor time at Tottenham, Bent has an incredible record in the Premier League and will always score goals.

Tony Cascarino on Why Darren Bent Should Leave Tottenham

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Tottenham face two tough away trips this week with a journey to the Ukraine next on the agenda. A long trip to face Shakhtar is the last thing Harry Redknapp needs at the moment and I honestly believe he’ll see this match as a hindrance.

Tony Cascarino on Harry Redknapp’s ‘Scary’ Transformation of Tottenham

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

It has been scary to see just how much one man can change a club’s situation around so dramatically but that’s just what Harry Redknapp has done at Tottenham in a few short weeks. Harry seems to have an instant effect wherever he goes but if you’d told me a few weeks ago that Spurs would have drawn at Arsenal, beat Liverpool and then won at Man City then I would have laughed. The team was in a desperate state and it can’t just be that Harry goes around putting his arm around the players it must be more than that. After all, we may as well throw all these coaching badges and manuals away if that’s the case!

Darren Hell Bent on Firing His Way Into Tottenham Line-Up: Have Sunderland, Everton, Aston Villa, Celtic & West Ham Missed Out?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

When the 2007/08 season ended few would have placed a bet on Darren Bent remaining at White Hart Lane and fewer still on him being the main striker at Tottenham come the start of this season. However, after an incredible return to form in pre-season culminating in 9 goals in a week against Norwich (4 goals), Leyton Orient (3 goals), Celtic and Borussia Dortmund (a goal apiece) he has emerged as the main man at the club.

Everton Enter Tottenham’s Darren Bent Chase: Aston Villa, Celtic & Sunderland All In the Hunt!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Press reports suggest that Sunderland, Aston Villa and Celtic have been joined by Everton in their interest for Spurs £16.5m man Darren Bent. It has been suggested that the Toffees are willing to bid around half of what Spurs shelled out for the former Charlton man last summer. It would be highly surprising if the North Londoners would cut their losses on the striker for such a large deficit just a season after he joined.

Should Tottenham Keep or Sell £16.5M Darren Bent to Celtic or Sunderland?

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Press reports suggest that both Sunderland and Celtic are weighing up bids for Tottenham’s £16.5M striker Darren Bent this summer. The former Charlton man had a troubled first season at White Hart Lane due to a lack of first team activity and injury. Subsequently rumours now persist that Juande Ramos will be looking to cut the clubs losses and sell to the highest bidder this summer which may well be Scottish champions Celtic or Roy Keane’s ambitious Sunderland side.
