Thursday, May 21st, 2009

The Manager of the Year trophy is a certainty to go to Sir Alex Ferguson. It’s hard to argue with that decision when you consider what Manchester United have won and could still win. The award usually goes to managers that wins trophies and the Premier League title, Carling Cup, World Club Championship, an FA Cup semi-final and a Champions League final is some record. There is no way that you could give the trophy to anyone else but there are a few other managers who have done simply superb jobs this season.

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Manchester United may soon be looking for a new manager if the comments from Sir Alex’s son Darren are to be believed but whoever comes in to replace him will have huge boots to fill. It’s difficult to second guess who could be the next man at the helm as football is such a short-sighted business.

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Everton are currently involved in negotiations to extend the contract of manager David Moyes as he has just 1 year left on his current deal. The Scot joined the club back in April 2002 and is the longest serving Toffees manager since Harry Catterick’s 12 year spell from 1961 to 1973. He’s built a strong squad on a comparitively low budget compared to the majority of Premier League clubs and surely Everton’s future depends on him staying.

Monday, June 16th, 2008

The Toffees may have been the highest placed Premier League team outside the big 4 last season but early transfer activity this summer hints at tough times ahead for the club if they are to build on their 5th placed finish. Rumours are rife that star man Mikel Arteta could be on his way back to Spain with Atletico Madrid ready to pay £12million for the mercurial playmaker. His loss would leave a huge gap in creativity within the Everton squad and leave them considerably weaker as they’re unlikely to be able to attract anyone of the same standard let alone better than the Spaniard.

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

The Toffees enjoyed a superb campaign which ended in European qualification via the Uefa Cup but could so easily have ended with them in next season’s Champions League.
