Cascarino: Burnley Board Prove ‘Lack of Ambition’ with Laws Appointment

Brian Laws’ appointment at Burnley is a surprise one and you have to ask why they have chosen him. The managerial merry-go-round is in full swing but unlike in most cases, Brian has stepped up a division despite failing at a Championship club whereas usually it is the other way round. He will be as surprised as anyone at this opportunity after a disappointing end to his time at Sheffield Wednesday but it would seem the Burnley board have merely gone for the cheap option.

Tony Cascarino: ‘Absolutely Brilliant’ Tottenham Finally Combining Flair with Steel

There are two words to describe Tottenham’s start to the Premier League season, ‘absolutely brilliant’. Harry Redknapp’s team’s start seems to have surprised many people but I don’t see why, as towards the end of last season they were performing just like this.

Birmingham v Doncaster: Blues Back to Winning Ways?

Alex McLeish’s unbeaten Birmingham side entertain a Doncaster team this weekend that have only been beaten once in the Championship since winning promotion. The Blues are one of 5 sides that remain undefeated after four League games though they dropped their first points of the season at Norwich in their last game. They also lost 2-0 in the Carling Cup at Southampton prior to this so may not be as full of confidence as you’d expect.

Once again the destination of the Championship title looks extremely difficult to predict with a number of clubs in with a good shout. There’s the likes of Bristol City, Crystal Palace and Watford who all reached the play-offs last season though the impact of getting so close to promotion could have a negative affect on the players.
