John Terry once again stepped up to lead England to a superb victory over Germany in Berlin with what was essentially a second string side. Despite much of the usual first team squad pulling out through injury, the Chelsea captain played the entire match culminating in his late winner.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Find out what it means to me! Clichéd, yes but who could resist a bit of Aretha! Its two weeks into the new season thus two weeks into the FA’s Respect Campaign and the future looks as bright as it can be. At the end of the day the essence of the Respect Campaign is asking the players and the manager to show restraint and there are always going to be times when they lose it. It’s called passion and the game would be dead without it.

Fabio Capello finally made his decision on his choice as England Captain today with John Terry keeping the armband he wore under Steve McClaren. This has come as a surprise with much of the press suggesting it was Rio Ferdinand who’d get the nod.
