Arsenal target Mario Gomez has been in lethal form of late which included a 4-goal performance against league leaders Wolfsburg on Saturday despite being substituted with 11 minutes remaining.

Reports in the German media suggest Arsenal have reopened their interest in Stuttgart’s Mario Gomez in view to a bid this summer. The 6 ft 2 international had been the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Man City last summer with the Gunners unsure whether Emmanuel Adebayor would remain with the club. The Togolese star finally agreed to stay though once again his future is uncertain after a poor season with Gomez a possible candidate to replace him in the Arsenal attack.

Arguably the best left-back at last summer’s Euro 2008 finals was Russia’s outstanding Yuri Zhirkov. The CSKA Moscow star was in sensational form as the Russians stormed into the semi-finals on the back of a 3-1 win over the Dutch. Despite the loss to Spain a number of the Russian players impressed during the tournament though Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin received most of the plaudits. However, reports suggest Zhirkov will be the next Russian import to the English top flight with Liverpool set to steal the left-sided star from under Chelsea’s noses.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both reportedly vying for the signature of Spanish international Raul Albiol this summer after the defender suggested the Premier League is of interest to him. The 23-year-old should be available as his club side Valencia continue to suffer from financial difficulties and will need to sell some of their prized assets, particularly as they are not as of yet assured Champions League football next term.

Reports today suggest a number of Premier League clubs are currently watching St Etienne striker Bafetimbi Gomis in view to a January move for the man dubbed the ‘New Didier Drogba’. The three clubs reportedly interested are Arsenal, Man City & Everton.

Reports have once again broken concerning an apparent financial crisis at Spanish club Valencia which has led to increased speculation that their star man and most marketable asset David Villa will be sold in January. This news will alert big spenders Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham who are all on the look out for new strikers in the New Year.

Bayern Munich star Lukas Podolski looks set to leave the Allianz Arena after failing to nail down a first team place with the Bundesliga giants. The talented forward has been linked to moves to Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Manchester City in the summer but remains in Germany though is getting increasingly disgruntled after constantly being used from the bench.
