Alan Hansen’s Premier 10 Pick: Birmingham v Everton

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Birmingham and Everton clash at St Andrews this weekend in what should be a cracking game. In some ways Alex McLeish has followed the David Moyes blueprint for Premier League success by building a hard-working, efficient, hard to beat Blues side in Everton’s image. Like the Toffees over the past few seasons, Alex has built his team on a firm defensive base and that ethic has paid off handsomely during the 2009/10 campaign.

Alan Hansen’s Premier 10 Pick: Everton v Hull

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Everton had a disappointing week following their exit from the Europa League followed by defeat at Tottenham. That result saw them drop to 10th in the Premier League but they still have an outside chance of European qualification and you can be sure that David Moyes will have his team fired up for this one. It has been an ultimately disappointing season for the Toffees after finishing 5th last season and reaching the FA Cup final but there have been a number of new arrivals at Goodison coupled with injuries this season and new signings usually need time to gel. We have seen signs of that recently with excellent displays against the top 3 teams in the country and they will fancy their chances against Hull this weekend.

Tony Cascarino on England Left-Back Candidates Baines & Warnock

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

There is plenty of debate as to the merits of both Everton’s Leighton Baines and Aston Villa’s Stephen Warnock in regards to making the England World Cup squad. For me, Baines is the one I would choose. There isn’t too much between the two left-backs as both have enjoyed good seasons at club level but the Toffees defender just has the edge.
