Tottenham v Everton is arguably the Premier League clash of the weekend as 4th placed Spurs take on David Moyes’ form side. Everton are on a superb run of form that has seen them lose just one of their last 12 league matches. This run includes back to back league wins over the top two sides in the league in Chelsea and Manchester United. However, they faced heartbreak in Europe in midweek as they crashed out to Sporting Lisbon ending their chances of silverware.

Rangers v Celtic promises to be yet another exciting no-holds barred Old Firm derby as the destination of the SPL title could hinge on this clash. Rangers are in pole position, 7 points clear with a game in hand but a win for Tony Mowbray’s side at Ibrox could give the Bhoys some much needed momentum. Celtic are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions but their rivals are on a far superior run.

Liverpool v Everton promises to be an intriguing Merseyside derby as both sides have hit a rich vein of form ahead of this clash after relatively disappointing seasons. Rafa Benitez’ team are unbeaten in their last six league matches (four wins) and have kept five clean-sheets in that run. Everton are unbeaten in their last nine league games since losing 2-0 in the last Merseyside derby. They have won four of their last five including clean-sheets in the last three games. These stats suggest that both of these teams should be confident and there is little to choose between the teams.

Bolton v Burnley promises to be an intriguing match with both sides struggling for form and mainly due to Trotters manager Owen Coyle’s recent defection to the Reebok Stadium. Aston Villa v Arsenal should be a interesting match with Martin O’Neill’s side still buzzing from booking a trip to Wembley for the Carling Cup final. Arsenal are also in superb form and beat Villa 3-0 at the Emirates back in December courtesy of a master-class cameo from their captain and talisman Cesc Fabregas. The Gunners’ Spanish star is in the form of his life and will be the man Villa need to stop if they are going to inflict another big four scalp after beating Liverpool, United and Chelsea so far this season. Unfortunately for Martin O’Neill, Villa’s record against Arsenal is far from impressive.

A 0-0 home draw with Hull, a 2-0 defeat at Liverpool and a last gasp 2-2 home draw with League One’s Leeds suggests Harry Redknapp’s team are not at their best at their best at the moment.
