Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will be looking for a reaction from his players this weekend after an extremely disappointing display at the DW Stadium earlier in the week. That 1-0 defeat was the Reds first ever loss to Wigan but it was the manner of the defeat which would have disappointed Rafa. Liverpool had no real excuses for such a poor show as they had all of their star names fit and available but the passion and quality was not there. Next up is a Portsmouth team destined for the drop and there is no room for error in the chase for Champions League qualification.

The Latics face a real battle to survive in the Premier League and sit a mere 1 point clear of the relegation zone. According to reports in the Turkish press, Rafa Benitez rejected the January transfer window bid from Birmingham for Ryan Babel as he was trying to finalise a deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray for a swap deal plus cash for their captain and star man Arda Turan. No deal could be reached in time but the Turkish star is expected to complete a deal this summer and his quotes to Uefa.com confirm the player wants to move.
