Which Premier League Summer Signing Will Prove to be the Best Bit of Business? Liverpool, Chelsea & Tottenham Bring in New Stars
Monday, June 9th, 2008
The summer has only just begun but already some of the Premier League big guns have made their moves in the transfer market and made some interesting new acquisitions. Tottenham have been the busiest Premier League club by far after bringing in 3 new arrivals in the shape of Crystal Palace wonderkid John Bostock, Barcelona’s exciting Mexican prodigy Giovani Dos Santos and highly-rated Croatian star Luka Modric. Whilst Liverpool and Chelsea have signed up 2 full-backs both starring in Euro 2008.
Liverpool signed up free transfer Swiss right-back Philipp Degen whilst Chelsea spent a reported £16million plus on Portuguese defender Jose Bosingwa. Rafa Benitez may have pulled off a transfer market masterstroke by signing up the 25-year-old former Borussia Dortmund player who’s a regular international with 30 caps to his name for nothing. However, managerless Chelsea have signed a much sought after star who had interested many Premier League clubs such as United, Spurs and Villa before the Blues backed up their interest in hard cash. The fellow 25-year-old may have been expensive but he may have finally solved the clubs troublesome right full-back slot and thus prove invaluable.
There’ll be many more signings before the 2008/09 season begins but of the early summer signings which club has made the best deal in terms of both value for money and ability of the player? Let’s hear your views.
