Nearly every major European club has been alerted to the emergence of yet another top class creative midfield talent in the shape of Sergio Canales. The 18-year-old Racing Santander midfielder has only made 13 league appearances for his club but his three starts in the last three games have yielded four goals including a brace in the 2-1 away win at Sevilla. Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal have been the most strongly linked clubs but Real Madrid and Barcelona are also in the hunt.

Reports in Spain claim Everton have made a move to sign former Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes’s on a 6-month loan contract. This deal would fit perfectly with David Moyes recent comments about any transfer deals he is looking to make in January.

Euro 2008 champions Spain look set to build on their superb 100% record in Group 5 as they host a Belgium side that has already lost three of their 6 games. On paper this looks an obvious home win and despite the absence of the excellent Andres Iniesta, I can’t see the Spanish having a problem.

Long-term Liverpool target David Silva is reportedly being chased by Manchester United with Valencia likely to sell for £25m. Juventus were favourites for the diminutive winger earlier this summer but a deal fell through so Sir Alex Ferguson has stepped up his interest to prevent title rivals Liverpool making a move in the wake of the Xabi Alonso sale. Silva is one of a number of prized assets Valencia may have to sell after financial difficulties have left them over £400m in debt.

Reports in Spain and Portugal claim Benfica have offered just 4m euros to buy out the remaining 75% of Atletico Madrid’s former Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes’s contract. The club has missed a number of deadlines imposed by Atletico in regards to the deal leaving the Spaniard’s career in limbo as he is not wanted in Madrid. Despite a spectacular fall from grace, Reyes is a talent and for such a small fee would hardly be much of a gamble for a number of Premier League clubs including his former side Arsenal.

Valencia winger Joaquin Sanchez Rodriguez is expected to be one of the first out of the Mestalla this summer after a public spat with his coach Unai Emery last season. The club’s financial difficulties are well documented leaving them £400m in debt and Joaquin is expected to be one of a handful of first team stars on their way out particularly after his recent behaviour. Reports in Spain suggest Aston Villa, Everton and Sunderland have made enquiries to the player’s availability.
