Tony Cascarino: Sunderland Ambition ‘Excellent’ After Turner Arrival But Hull May Pay in Long Run

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Steve Bruce delved into the transfer market once again to bring Hull’s Michael Turner to the Stadium of Light and he should prove a good signing. Bruce should know a good centre-half when he sees one as he was one of the best in his time with Manchester United and I’m sure he sees a bit of himself in the player.

Tony Cascarino: No Relegation Fears for Steve Bruce’s Sunderland This Season

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Sunderland may have been soundly beaten by Chelsea last night but there is still plenty of reasons to be cheerful for Black Cats fans. Darren Bent scored for the 2nd successive match and will prove to be a great signing. Despite a poor time at Tottenham, Bent has an incredible record in the Premier League and will always score goals.

Sheer Lack of Professionalism of Zaki is ‘Crazy’ – Alan Hansen on Wigan Striker Plus Spurs, Liverpool & Newcastle Target

Monday, April 6th, 2009

The situation with Amr Zaki at Wigan is a crazy one and what Steve Bruce has publicly stated is completely correct. Steve has shown in the past that he will bend over backwards for his players but if the guy is going to consistently fail to turn up after international duty then enough is enough.

Sir Alex Will Have a Big Say in his Successor at Manchester United - Tony Cascarino

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Manchester United may soon be looking for a new manager if the comments from Sir Alex’s son Darren are to be believed but whoever comes in to replace him will have huge boots to fill. It’s difficult to second guess who could be the next man at the helm as football is such a short-sighted business.

Steve Bruce Gives Wigan Reasons to be Cheerful: The Latics are a Team on the Up!

Friday, August 1st, 2008

The majority of pundits are tipping Wigan to have another season of struggles down towards the foot of the Premier League. However, with Steve Bruce at the helm, established stars committing to the club and good new signings arriving, I personally believe the Latics may be the surprise team of the 2008/09 season.

Wigan v Birmingham: Bruce is Ecstatic as Birmingham Fail to Trouble his Latics?

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

With both teams scuffling down at the wrong end of the table, this game is already being dubbed your epic 6-pointer. Throw in the whole Steve Bruce issue from back in November and you really do have a Premier 10 classic in the making.

Blackburn v Wigan: Latics Earn a Point at Ewood?

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Wigan are definitely the form side of all the teams in the relegation battle at the moment. They’ve embarked on an impressive 4-match unbeaten run of two wins and 2 draws to pull themselves 6 points clear of the relegation zone. Unlike the majority of the sides at the bottom of the table, the Latics are solid at the back at 5 clean-sheets in the last 6 matches would suggest. Premier 10 players should note that Steve Bruce has turned his side into one that’s extremely difficult to beat.

Middlesbrough v Wigan - Boro Win the Riverside Relegation 6-Pointer?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Boro have won just once in the last 6 matches but have been unfortunate not to have picked up more points in recent games. Gareth Southgate’s team have drawn the last 2 matches at home to Liverpool and away at Blackburn but could have won both after impressive displays that perhaps deserved more.

SUNDERLAND v WIGAN - BLACKS CATS WIN FA CUP FIGHT AT THE STADIUM OF LIGHT?

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

These two struggling Premier League clubs clash in the FA Cup for the first time in history this weekend. The opposing managers Steve Bruce and Roy Keane shared plenty of success as team-mates at Old Trafford playing in back-to-back FA Cup finals together but may see this competition as a burden on their respective club’s limited playing staff as League survival takes precedent over cup glory.

WIGAN v ASTON VILLA - LATICS LEVEL WITH VILLANS?

Friday, December 28th, 2007

After 2 months in the bottom three, Steve Bruce led his Latics side to the dizzy heights of 17th after their Boxing Day win over Newcastle. His arrival has seen the Latics pick up 8 points from a possible 15 under his management, ending a run of 8 consecutive defeats. Rumours that Bruce has been feeding the JJB with 5 loaves and 2 small fish when not turning water into wine in the club bar have since been proven as a slight exaggeration.
