Magnusson deal unlikely for Well

26th November 2008

Motherwell look unlikely to follow up their interest in Swedish defender Thomas Magnusson following his trial last week.

The 30-year-old spent several days at Fir Park and played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Partick Thistle last Wednesday, which Motherwell lost 2-1.

But, despite claiming to have impressed the Motherwell coaching staff, Magnusson has not been encouraged by their subsequent response.

And the 6ft 1in centre-back, who has been released by Swedish top-flight outfit IFK Norrkoping, was not particularly enthusiastic about a potential move to Lanarkshire.

"They did not leave a very good impression," Magnusson told Norrkopings Tidningar. "The club was not as professional as I thought. The organisation is bad, everything from training times to everything surrounding the matches. It didn't look good from an economic viewpoint either. We will see what happens."

Czech left-back Jakub Hottek, who was briefly at Livingston last season, also featured against Thistle, but his chances of winning a deal are slim.
