Wenger rues missed chances

3rd December 2008

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was left cursing his luck after seeing his talented young side knocked out of the Carling Cup at Burnley.

Kevin McDonald scored both goals for the Championship side on a frustrating night where the Gunners spurned a host of chances.

And Wenger said: "It was a game we should never have lost.

"We played quite well, we had six one to ones with the goalkeeper yet were still beaten 2-0.

"We were always chasing the game and that is difficult for a young team. We showed a lack of concentration at times.

"However it has been a good education for our young players. Many of them were not fazed by the game and gave absolutely everything. We just needed to be more clinical."
